3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
11 oz or so bottle. Nothing really special about this stout. Not bad, but not spectacular. A bit creamy, with a little bit of sour taste. Deffinately not worth the price I paid for it.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
(03.11.06) On tap at Firkin’s, Libertyville, IL. Blacked hued stout having a long-lived giant creamy off-white head. Faint plastic-like aroma. Medum-to-full bodied stout that starts dry with slight licorice flavor. Finishes dry with light bitterness fade. Creamy and smooth in the mouth. Very mild and practically tasteless but for the slight licorice flavor. Good drinkable dry mild stout that is best enjoyed without food as food flavors overwhelm this beer.

1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2006 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large brown head. The aroma is vaguely skunky with a sour tang. The mouthfeel is rather thin for a stout. The flavor is roasted malts and a sharp bitterness. Not very good.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Beer pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with an off-white, large, grothy, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is, to put it bluntly, pretty yucky. It’s moderately malty with a note of roasted grain, sharp caramel and milk chocolate; hoppy with a trace of herbs; Miscellaneous moderately weighty notes of smoke, rotting banana peel and tin can. The flavor is moderately acidic, moderately bitter and lightly sweet with a long, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, heavily metallic-tasting finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very decent Irish stout. Nice looking with a dark rocky head topping a near black brew. Creamy and roasted, with a distinctly dry and hoppy finish. Hop flavor lingers in the finish without being bitter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A good dry stout. May it get better, as it seems a little uneven. Flavorful and strong with sweet malt and enough hops to finish the deal. Nice roasted chocolate and coffee notes.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Is there such a thing as a "Light Stout?" That sounds like an oxymoron. This one comes close. It looks great! It poured an opaque black with a large bubbly off-white head. It even had a nice earthy aroma. Then I drank it: Light malt flavor; Light on the hops, a bit thin, with a slight metallic aftertaste. Not the "Full bodied, luxuriously smooth...." promised on the label. Stout? Nah. A nice looking, low alcohol black lager? Maybe.

Poured black with some ruby highlights if held at the right angle. Huge, fluffy light brown head. Nice lacing on the glass and small head remained all the way through. Big roasty and malty aroma. Flavor lightly sweet, with hints of cherries, malts, and roasted bean notes. Big bitter bite. Light mouthfeel. This is an ok Stout, something that I would enjoy every once and a while.
