COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout has a robust flavour with a ful bodied and smooth mouth feel. The roast flavours lead to a dry espresso like finish. A generous addition of fuggles hops lead to a tart bitterness which mingles with the roast espresso flavours on the tongue.

Bottle. Brought this back from Denmark where beer costs an arm and a leg. Decent head nice very dark color. A bit smoked in the malt and light sweetness throughout. Not stellar in the Irish selection but decent none the less.

Bottle, rating from old notes. Deep brown but not opaque pour. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee, maybe a little smoke. More roasted malt and coffee in the flavor, with little hints of chocolate. Fairly dry and sharp palate.

Pailhead (4770) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - JUN 26, 2005
Bottle: Aroma is a little light, but mostly all roastiness. Pours a dark brown with barely some orange hilights and a small off-white head that quickly fades to a ring. Flavor is mostly roasted grain and roasted coffee. Light chocolate comes in the finish and a slight lingering in the aftertaste.

A surprisingly complex beer at the top of its style. Aromas of chocolate and coffee, some smoke, and teriyaki, and port.. Black with a large tan head. Multi dimensional flavor, smokey peat,, port. Heavy palate but easy to drink.

Dark obsidian pour with medium tan head. Aroma of chocoff, roasty malt, some rauch. Tastes chocoffy with some licorice and smoked bourbon flavors in the finish. A tad light on the tongue, but very good.

Pour is black with a small tan head. Wow! Nice burnt roasty aroma. Flavor is a bitter burnt with a strong coffee aftertaste. A pleasing brew for all the senses.

Bottle 12oz - Pours black with a medium tan head. Roasty sweet aroma. Coffee and roasted malts dominate the flavor. On the palate this is actually a little watery for a stout. It did finish a little bitter though and I liked that. This was much like the other irish stouts I’ve had. Nothing fantastic but a drinkable brew.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2005 Bottle…unfortunately…. great roasted nose…smells like oatmeal cookies to me…..medium dark….decent head….taste like improved Guinness to me. The bottom of the pint had a nice sweet malt to it balanced out with bitter roast. I would love to taste this on tap. Nice.

Deep tar black, topped with a creamy frothy one finger light brown head. Roasted coffee and sea salt aroma. Salty flavors continue, with roasted coffee. Dark and bitter, with chicory and some dusted chocolate. Oak and smoke show through. Palate is dry and a little bitter, with a bit of a sugary chokecherry finish.
