Beatiful dark brown pour. Easy light drink, bit much on water, particularly with lower alcohol. A bit of bite -molasses and hoppy. Liked: Only mildly roasty, only bit of the coffee, and hint of chocolates and nutty. Clear freshness dating.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Poured a dark black colored beer with an average bubbly head with standard retention. Aroma is really great with a nice mix between roastiness and coffee. Taste is OK with some nice touch of roasted malts and coffee. The aftertaste is dry without too much of the watery feeling you get with Guinness. Overall, a good stout but nothing too much out of the ordinary.

Scent is strong alcohol, but it seems to work. Coffee taste dominates. A perfectly acceptable stout.

Smells like yummy. Smooth beer, with not a lot of taste. Hum, have really nothing else to say about this beer, but I need to fill space. That should do it.

Black. Roasted malt and toffee up front. Richly grassy and bitter. Dry finish. Medium bodied.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown with tan head. Smokey but not as smokey as the Celtic Red from same brewery. Not very complex taste, a bit thin and not especially well balanced.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Black in colour with minimal head. Smoke and light malts as far as the aroma is concerned. I found the flavor to be VERY smokey... I might have confused this with a smoked beer if I had been tasting it blind. The smoke sort of overwhelms the secondary malt and caramel flavors. A very thin body as well. Unbalanced and disappointing.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown body, thin light brown head. Aroma is rather mild, malty with tones of chocolate and licorice, rather simple I must say. Palate is rather low-bodied, chocolatey, pretty effervescent for a stout and a very honest roasty finish, moderately bitter and with a bit of coffee. Not worth hunting, but far from unpleasant.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear dark brown beer with a small off-white head. Sweet malts and chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate, slightly smokey beer with peat moss character, slightly lactic. Very nice bodied stout.

Good dry stout. Black in color, hint of burnt toast from the roast barley. I love Guinness and Murphy's,and though it does not have that creaminess of Gui. & Murph., it definitely has those dry undertones of coffee and chocolate and deserves remarkable respect.
