Nicely-balanced sweetish Irish stout, if a bit skinny for the style. Black with a short tan head. Plenty of dry roast barley notes in the aroma and the promise of something sweet. Creamy mouthfeel but it’s very much at the light end of the stout scale - closer to the Australian bantamweights than the Irish heavyweights. Feels a little insubstantial. Some earthy hops in the mix but the dominant flavour is sweet and malty. Easy drinking. (Bottle)

Cask Conditioned at The Tite Inn, Chadlington, Oxon. Black with red hue, sl beige head. Deep roasted flavours, chocolate malts and a husky ground coffee note. A little sweetness for the tongue, slightly biscuity, sharp and incisive flavours. A passable stout, better than its Irish competition.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tapped. Very dark brown or black opaque with brown foamy head. Not much aroma, just a bit roasted malt and a bit "soapy". Taste consists of smokey, roasted malt. Smoky aftertaste.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep translucent red body, thin/medium clumping tan head. Strong roasted malt aroma. Somewhat tangy body, dominated by woody, roasty malts and a touch of earthy hops. Bitter, acidic finish. Tight carbonation for a stout. This is average across-the-board.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark brown, carmel foam, light medium body, very smokey, brown sugar in the nose, good foam, creamy feel, roast bitter plus some hops in the finish. A bold, light bodied stout with lots of flavor. Compares very favorably to Guinness. Much appreciated!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black Coloring with Tan Head. Malty Aroma...and Not on the Sweet Side. Astringent Coffee...Roasts on the Tongue...Thin Mouthfeel...While Not a Great Stout...Definitly Still Worth Finishing the Bottle.

Bottled. Nice stout but I needed some time to get used to the very strong bitter coffee finish. Another downpoint is that it starts medium bodied but soon gets thin.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black color with a very thin tan head. Bitter malt aroma. Definite roasted malt in the taste with some bitter coffee, but definitely on the thin side. It’s not bad and I wouldn’t pass on one.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark frothy pour. Quite hoppy and somewhat smokey with roasted malt undertones. A little thin for my tastes.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
A pervasive yet light hoppy aroma with strong coffee overtones suggests this beer will be tasty. Which makes the first sip somewhat of a disappointment. It’s not a horrible beer but it’s not well balanced, bitter, dry and thin bodied. The dominant flavour is burnt malt.
