UPDATED: MAY 23, 2005 Bottle…unfortunately…. great roasted nose…smells like oatmeal cookies to me…..medium dark….decent head….taste like improved Guinness to me. The bottom of the pint had a nice sweet malt to it balanced out with bitter roast. I would love to taste this on tap. Nice.

Correcte !

Tried as O’Hara’s Irish Stout from LCBO in Thunder Bay, Ontario. A 500ml bottle pours almost black in color with some lovely red highlights when held to a light source. There was a substantial beige head that retained quite well and left a thin spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of roasted grains with some caramel and chocolate and mild hops. Taste is chocolate malty sweetness with roasted barley and light hop bitterness that lingers a little creating a dry finish. I really enjoyed sampling this stout and will definitely try again in the future.

Black color with small brown head.
Smell is strong with traces of smoke and roasted malt. It’s dry and very bitter. To much for my taste. I’ve liked more O’hara’s red.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before Sept 2008, drank in Jan 2008 on a wet, cold and windy evening in Shropshire.
Poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ pint vase shaped glass.
Using a vase glass really showed off the colours, a very deep ruby red body and a biege head that didn’t stay as long as I’m have liked, but the beer looked good.
The aroma was all about burnt malts and caramels, roasted coffee with a dark chocolate biscuit. A wintery warming smell.
The taste is a s dry as a Badgers arm pit. How do they do that?
The mouthfeel was just a little watery in my opinion and the dryness became almost oppressive after a while.
If the head had stayed stronger and the beer had more body then the scores would have been very high for me. As it is, this beer is one of the best Stouts I’ve ever had, I’ll be revisiting it whenever our paths cross.

aroma: complex roasted coffe flavor, with nice head, dark clear apperance, excellent oaked, rosasty coffe taste with chocolate, caramel notes and mild earthy hops. Delicious and easy to drink.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rondphoto (614) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - APR 21, 2012
Pours a clear, very dark amber with a long-lasting 1/4" head and good lacing. Considering the low abv, the taste is pretty good. Compared to stouts, it is watery and utterly underwhelming. Caramel malt with black coffee and maybe a touch of chocolate, the finish lingers, but never introduces any bitterness outside of the opening statement. Okay, not great.

Black in color with an average beige head. Roasted malts all around. Fairly one dimensional.
