COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This stout has a robust flavour with a ful bodied and smooth mouth feel. The roast flavours lead to a dry espresso like finish. A generous addition of fuggles hops lead to a tart bitterness which mingles with the roast espresso flavours on the tongue.

Bottle from Slob Thanks!

Pours a rich black with a nice cream head. Aroma is a cross between Guinness and a fresh bag of coffee. Flavor is like a Guinness with a bit of roasted attitude. Much more malt definition than Guinness; a bit more gruff and less refined. Palate coats nicely. This is a very good Irish stout; a definite repeat.

Bottle. Brown creamy lasting head. Fair to call the bofy blsvk. The expected coffee hops aroma, a bit shapr though. Flavor: I hope to spell it right this time, liquorice. coffee, smooth hops, well done !!

Totally opaque black. Earthy thick scent with lots of malt. Less spice then expected. Very pleasnat taste, lots of malts a bit herby and a bit flowery. Chives, caramel and dates. Sweeter aftertaste at first then a lingering almost curry like finish in the back of the throat. On of the best stouts I have had in a long time (could also be because it’s the first since I stopped smoking :) )

Nice black pour in the glass with decent sized head. Nose and taste is dry malts and baker’s chocolate. Rated 10/1/02

Such an Irish beauty, smooth all the way, and dry, without ever being nasty. Very opaque black, with a respectable creamy-head, I get aromas of dark chocolates, grapes and a whiff chinese gooseberries, perhaps also known as kiwifruits. Perfect flavour of roasted malts - in my staggered opinion, this has never been as pure and perfect. A touch of chocolate and a touch of basement fruits, but this dryness from the roast and that "sweet" bitterness is just so enticing. I love the way the flavours unfold in the mouth. Silky and velvety, but not much of a full body, the palate is just perfect for the flavours of this "delicate stout".

Bottle. Pours a near black color with a smallish light brown head. Nose is very dry with a lot of roasting elements in there. Nose is definitely quite bitter and with a very dry and cool espresso finish. Interesting...

Caramel, coffee, roasty, earthy, licorice, chocolate flavor. A little course but overall a very interesting beer. Good for drinking on its own.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2014 On tap. Dark brown color with lots of beige creamy head. Head is slowly rising from the bottom of the glass to the top. Weak roasted malt aroma. Taste strong bitter coffee with cream. From the bottle is very good, but on tap version is really excellent.

When looking for a good well balanced stout, full of flavour, with hints of toast, roasted nuts and a faint hint of coffee, then this is streets ahead of any other Irish Stout. Impossible to find in Dublin however as they seem to favour something else there. Bottles can be purchased at the airport however. Tasted it first in Cape Cod, in a place called sandwich in a place called the British Pub. Carlow sell a similar beer marked though M & S, but get the draught versionif you can
