This stout has a robust flavour with a ful bodied and smooth mouth feel. The roast flavours lead to a dry espresso like finish. A generous addition of fuggles hops lead to a tart bitterness which mingles with the roast espresso flavours on the tongue.

Dark brown body, thin light brown head. Aroma is rather mild, malty with tones of chocolate and licorice, rather simple I must say. Palate is rather low-bodied, chocolatey, pretty effervescent for a stout and a very honest roasty finish, moderately bitter and with a bit of coffee. Not worth hunting, but far from unpleasant.

Dark brown body with a foamy tan head. Aroma is mild coffee, roasted malt and milk chocolate. Flavor is also mild and quite thin. Roasted malt with some bitter hops in the finish and also weak coffee notes. Little sourness. Nice and easy but very light and thin.

Dark amber, almost black, with a lasting brownish head.Aroma from cocoa and chocolate. Has a rather mild flavor, malty with some coffee and a hoppy finish. Ok, but this was more like a dark lager to me. Thin and not the best of stouts.

Black, with large and thick brownish head. Aroma from juniper, cocoa and coffee. Flavor brings coffee and juniper, and ends with a bitter and peppery finish.

Deep translucent red body, thin/medium clumping tan head. Strong roasted malt aroma. Somewhat tangy body, dominated by woody, roasty malts and a touch of earthy hops. Bitter, acidic finish. Tight carbonation for a stout. This is average across-the-board.

330 ml bottle, BBD Jan 06. Gigantic rocky meringue gray-brown head lasts forever, topping an oily blackness....chocolate, licorice, espresso struggle to be felt in the faint aroma, pleasant but too weak....body is quite dry, mostly coffee-bitter, faint whispers of dark chocolate, roasty and rather harsh at the finish. Not at all bad but nothing to make an effort for.

As to be expected, dark black with a decent tan head that left some lacing. Aromas of roasted grains some hints of chocolate-y sweetness. The flavour is intensely bitter, leaving a cloying aftertaste. The palate was a bit thin which may be attributed to the abv. Okay, but I’ve had better.

Dark burgundy brown body with visible carbonation and a frothy, light tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, burnt figs and chestnuts, and some evident sweet caramelization. Flavor is like well-roasted dark coffee with medium acidity. Also some charry notes plus burnt fruit and squash. Fizzy, over-carbonated palate.

Decent beer, but nothing very special -- nothing there to grab you. Medium bitterness, fairly dry finish. Something for fans of Guiness I suppose.

Black, medium tan head that was mostly diminishing. Aroma is of black coffee, nothing more. Initial flavor is moderately roasty, finish is slightly hopped, dry, and coffee-bitter. Not a whole lot of substance or character that sets it apart from other stouts.
