Close my eyes and it tastes like a guiness. Not bad, but not that innovative. Quite a dry, taste with no detaours into alc. taste , sweet , fruity, sour.. so it’s a bit dull. But good at what it tries to be. You can take a pint of this one instead of guinness at the pub, and all is well, but you will not get a rememberable experience. Probably the first guinness-wannabe that i find a serious contestant for my next pint of guinness.
KawaBomber (132), New Jersey, USA Jul 14, 2008 11.2oz Bottle: Pours dark brown, just about black, w/ a nice two finger brown head that leaves some nice lacing behind. Aroma is of deep roasted malts, a little smoky & some coffee. Flavor is of heavy roasted malts. Just a hint of metal & very dry. Nice coffee flavor left behind. Nice beer, would pick this one up again. tarc (41), New Jersey, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle date 31.12.08 11.2 oz
Aroma was that of roasted stout, not too strong. Pour was beautifully dark but not thick with minimal settling or residue. Medium tan head that settled nicely. Flavor was of malt and roast very slightly sweet and it finished smoother than many Irish stouts.
I’m surprised to be the first to rate this fine beer. I found it very drinkable and look forward to having it again. BeerBaron617 (80), Novi, Michigan, USA Jul 10, 2008 I got this from my dad, thanks! Very smooth and malty, a very good quality stout, much better than it’s common counterpart, Guinness. TheGrandMaster (1406), Auckland, New Zealand Jul 7, 2008 Bottle, pours a very dark (nearly black) brown, with a bubbly brown head. A strong roasted aroma, smoky malt with a touch of coffee. A good smooth palate, the malt again carries some smokiness with a touch of roasted coffee. The finish is a touch disappointing, becoming more thin than dry, along with a touch of metallicness. But there is a lingering hop bitterness left in the mouth that leaves me wanting more. A pretty nice stout. LawStudent09 (315), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 6, 2008 Dark brown pour with a tiny head. Smells of roasted malts with coffee notes. The body is thin and dry with the roasted malt coming through with some slightly bitter coffee and cocoa notes.
