3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 prosqtor (408) - Appleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 20, 2008Might have to re-rate after my sickness is gone. Smells wonderful -- taste and palate is closer to Guinness Extra Stout than drought. Nice and dry and smoky with lots of roasty hops flavor -- but not too much to overwhelm the cocoa and coffee.

I didn’t realize this beer has an alias. Anyway, this is "on the list" and we haven’t reviewed a beer in a while. This isn’t my favorite style, but it IS better than Guinness. The only time I would order this again is if I was in Ireland ordering this on on cask. I bet this is killer room temperature.

Bottle. Poured an opaque black with a medium tan head, nice lacing. The aroma is of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. Taste is dry, with chocolate, coffee, bitter-sweet flavors. Thin, almost watery, high crispy carbonation. Nice stout.

The head is ok, the body black. It smells roasty, darkmalty, creamy, a bit chocolate. The taste is stouty, roasty, coffee, intensive coffee-roasty, sweet-coffeearomatic, caramel, a bit chocolate. Tasty! 12/13/12/12/-/12

Bottle, thanks to Steve (BeersIveKnown) for this one. Dark brown/black, thin fizzy tan head leaves some lacing. Chocolate-covered raisins, soft coffee, some meaty roast. Light chalky roast, some dark chocolate, espresso, long bitter finish. Nice, but a little thin.

50cl bottle from Auchan (Luxembourg). It pours a very dark brown in colour with a small to non existent head. Notes of roast, coffee and chocolate with a bitter and dry end. Not bad.
2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 VincentL (234) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 28, 2013
