2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a black body with beige foamy head. Aromas of dark malt and coffee with some smokiness, faint vanilla. Taste of roasted malt with some bitter coffee added with some graininess on the palate. Sweet bitterness at last.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Beautiful aroma of roasted malts. Lots of chocolate and even more coffee. Some hops appearing here and there as well. Some bready aroma in the background as well. Very strong. Pours black with huge head, that lasts for a long, long while and leaves great lacing. That head is really durable. Taste is dry, yet not watery. Medium-low carbonation, medium bitterness (just enough to feel it, works great in this beer). Overall it’s a very simple, straightforward beer. Extremely drinkable, session. Love that touch of coffee in there as well.

4.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
When looking for a good well balanced stout, full of flavour, with hints of toast, roasted nuts and a faint hint of coffee, then this is streets ahead of any other Irish Stout. Impossible to find in Dublin however as they seem to favour something else there. Bottles can be purchased at the airport however. Tasted it first in Cape Cod, in a place called sandwich in a place called the British Pub. Carlow sell a similar beer marked though M & S, but get the draught versionif you can

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from the LCBO. Pour a darker brown/black colour with a fine bubbled brownish head that disappears pretty quickly. I find the aroma sort of dusty and espresso like with a hint of roast. On the palate it is medium bodied, some toasty bitterness and fast finish. Rather forgeful but toasty brew. Meh.
