DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Apr 3, 2008 Fresh leafy hops nose, some caramel and candied malt, clear ruby, with a small tight toffee head, nice lace. Taste is caramel, treacle, malt, hops and a good nuttiness as well. Well balanced, light bodied, a fine toffee creaminess, dry, bitter finish. Good. Duff53 (22), USA Apr 3, 2008 Nice whitish head that went away fairly quickly. nice red anber color in the glass. Toasted slightly sweet taste. not bad rustan (13), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Apr 1, 2008 underwhelming. pour light copper with 2 finger head. aroma unremarkable. palate thin and flat. flavor tawny, balanced and slightly acrid in the end. more of a session beer. drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Mar 18, 2008 Kind of like this beer. Poured with a nice head which mostly dissapated and some lace. Good reddish amber color. Mild malty and roasty aroma with little hops. Perhaps a little fizzy in the mouth which also leads to a sharpness on the tongue. Still, it’s not overly sweet and is drinkable. It gets even better as it warms a bit. Having a draft of this in Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse, Wis. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2008 pours a dark caramel color with a one finger fluffy cream colored head. aroma is toasted malt and a touch of hops and nuts with a little dark fruit. has a light to medium body with good lacing and carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with dust. i will pass. alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 16, 2008 Reddish brown color with no head. Not much aroma. Some hops, but not much better. A decent Irish Red-not much to brag about, but nothing to offend either. zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Mar 16, 2008 (draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is smoky and a little malty with some earthen notes. Flavor is a little sour at the start with flavors of boiled vegetables, stale biscuits, and some dampness. Metallic finish. Not very good. thepegjett (92), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Mar 15, 2008 Very nutty and smokey aroma, with a dark red color. Bitter smokey flavor. I really enjoy this beer. I don’t know what it is, but I like drinking it.
