patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 9, 2007 bottle as Moling’s Traditional Red Ale - Pours dark read with a thin head. The aroma is of caramel malt and a little dark fruit. The flavor is of toasty caramel malts and mild fruitiness with just a little hops. It didn’t exactly blow me away and could have used some more hops bite, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Aug 7, 2007 Final beer style! 12oz bottle. Pours a clear, amber-brown color; off-white head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Light, dried cherries and candy sugar in the aroma. Syrupy cherries and cola in the mouthfeel: overly sweet, without all that much to it; kind of one-dimensional and bland, with a light roasted character coming through at mid-palate. Quick, dry and mineral finish. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Aug 3, 2007 Bottle. Dark red and brown with a large off-white foam. Aromas are smoky and lightly roasted with caramel malts, metal and some Autumn fruit. Flavours are smoky and slightly burnt with quite a degree of bitterness. Some pear and citrus with a flat metallic note on the finish. OK. onlyrocknroll (218), Cork, Ireland Jul 17, 2007 Dark orange with a medium head. Predominantly malty, nutty and caramel. Dry finish. A very nice Irish ale, all the more welcome given the poor qualiy of its big brand rivels. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jul 5, 2007 Pours amber, very clear, with a soft white head. Caramel and lighly toasty flavor. Finish is earthy in the hops, dry and a faint smoked flavor. Great balance and smooth on the palate. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2007 From a 11.2 oz. bottle, best before date on the back label, sampled at cellar temperature in a pint glass.
Poured a clear reddish amber with a foamy, bubbly topped off-white head that slowly settled into a thin creamy lacing, minimal amount of laced sticking.
Aromas of toasted caramel and grains, herbal tea-like hops and a light fruitiness.
Good carbonation and a crisp, dry, smooth medium-light bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of toasted grains and buttery caramel, herbal hops along with dry tea leaves, a subtle sweet fruitiness, and a dry spicy, toasted toffee malty finish.
Not bad, easy drinkability, a bit refreshing on this summer day.
