Dark copper-red with a good tanned head and lace. Slightly fruity and sharp aroma. Balanced mouthfeel between malts and hops with toffee notes. Finishing a bit watery and then giving some late bitterness. Drinkable but easy to forget.

Dough- and berrylike (strawberry, red currant ) aroma. Red brown, plentifull small bubbled carbonation, fluffy off-white head. Cookie- and slightly roasted malt, fruity notes, some herbal edges. Thinish body, sparkly mouthfeel. I suspect it may be more exiting from the cask - from the bottle its somewhat boring.

Bottle: Reddish brown hue with frothy off-white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of caramelized malts, grassy hops, and dusty yeast esters. The taste is sweet and malty which a lactic twang. Mild bitters, instant coffee and some smoky finish. The feel is chalky, dry, and boring. Really, the whole beer is one boring mess.

Dark amber color with nice, lasting light tan head with nice lacing all the way through my Troubadour glass. Big malty aroma. The taste has a big metalic thing going on. I gotta learn what they call that, cause I taste it a lot in a lot of low to medium range beers. If you can get past that, it has some malt. I’d like to taste some peat in here but I’m not getting any. Medium bodied. If this bottle is a good one, I don’t like it. But, if there’s something wrong, this may be good. Oh well.

(Bottled) Clear, deep ruby red with a medium, quite tight and lasting head. Neutral, grainy-caramely-malty aroma with some roastiness and hints of woody hops. Neutral-malty, roasty flavor with an ashy-sourish finish and mild, nutty hops. Light to medium-bodied, a bit thin palate with medium, a bit foamy carbonation. A neutral and slightly ashy brew with not much flavor ... pretty dull overall. (Bottled, rated 6/18/2004, was 5-4-6-3-13=3.1) Slightly hazy, deep red color with small head. Mild, caramel-malty, slightly wineous and oaky aroma. Dry, roasted-malty, slightly smoky toffee flavor with medium bitterness and coffee in the finish. Quite long and dry aftertaste. Medium-bodied, dry palate with reasonably balanced carbonation. A nice-looking and pretty enjoyable ale.

Nice red copper beer with a thin off-white head, lightly sweet malty aroma. Good malts and some nuttyness with some hops near the end, very reserved. Pleasing body but on the lighter side. Pleasant session ale.
