Flavor was much the same sweet maltiness and some metallic notes as well. Not very good. j12601 (1217), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA

The aroma is interesting with hints of malt and caramels, though the flavor tends to be somewhat muted and watery. I’m sad to say that the American equivalent, Killian’s Irish Red, is preferable. beerchugger (293), Colorado, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 17, 2009 Pours a deep dark red color with a nice thick beige head that lasts throughout. Aroma is strong of sweet malts and caramel. The flavor is lightly grainy with strong malt characteristics. The finish is nicely balanced with hopps. Pretty good beer. dmac (1442), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 17, 2009 11.2 oz bottle from Jonathan Ron in Brielle. Poured a nice shade of deep red with an average size light beige head however both the body and the head were super bubbly with lots of large clinging bubbles on my New Belgium glass. Aroma was slightly sweet with notes of caramel and vegtables. Flavor is even sweeter then the aroma and tastes like a Bit O’Honey candy bar topped with some roasted malts. Not bad and far better then that shitty ass fake Irish Red from Coors disguised as an actual Irish beer. italianjohn (348), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 14, 2009 12 oz bottle. Poured a clear amber/red color with a thin off white head. The aroma was roasty with notes of chocolate and caramel. The flavor was thin, but a roasty malt based was finished by a citrus bitterness. Good beer. Hbuck72 (123), Chickasha, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2009 Updated: Sep 10, 2009Nice red/brown color, nice smokey almost tobacco-like aroma. nice tan head with a good amount of lacing.
Pours a nice red/brown color, smell is of tobacco, dark roated malt, some toffee notes. A little disappointed in the flavor and palate feel, from the look and smell I figured that it would be smooth and flavorful like Smithwicks, but it is not. lackluster flavor, and a bit harsh on the palate.
As always, glad to try new things, but for this type I would rather have a Smithwicks.
