| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 28, 2009 Pours a dark reddish brown with an excellent off--white head and strong lacing. Aroma of roasted malt. Folavor of dark roasted malt offset by slight citrus hoppy biotterness in the finish. this is a robust Irish Red. The robust taste is an advantage over many other Irish Red’s, which have a slightly watered down taste. branspra (217), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours a black color with a medium, off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, malts, and a hint of caramel. Texture is almost strange as it is like water, very weird for a stout. Flavor is also light and would prefer more from a stout. Better beers exist. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours a beautiful deep amber with a nice foamy head of slightly off-white. An aroma of hoppy biscuits and rose eminate from the glass, with touches of sugar in the background. Flavor is a massive letdown, with coppery bread notes and expired hops. Watery mouthfeel that leaves spiky carbonation bubbles on the tongue as it travels to the throat. I’m sure this is an old bottle. fonefan (11055), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2009 Bottle, Bull and Castle, Dublin. Erm, red probably. Sweet malty nose with hints of molasses, nuts, a squeeze of old sock. Notes mention Highgate. Thick with malt and sugar at the modest ABV. Raisins and lace. Wheat-like slickness, hops to balance. Toffee and marzipan, but integrated. Very tasty, real-ish red ale. canary dog (441), Rutland, Vermont, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Wow, what a quality brew. About as dark and sexy in the glass as a red can get. Nice head. Taste is well-balanced and rich; perhaps what Killians would taste like on tap and really fresh. Almost a blend of red and brown ales. Finish is intriguing. There is a smoky peat essence followed by a lingering and subtle salty bitterness. Very good. I found this for $2.99 a four pack at my local bevie, and will be buying a lot more before they run out.
