The aroma is grainy, some light sweetness, light caramel malts. The flavour is thin and watery, lightly grainy and toasty, some caramel sweetness. Thin bitter mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes grainy, bitter, very light sweetness. Not great, too thin. The grains take over at times.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2007 bottle as Moling’s Traditional Red Ale - Pours dark read with a thin head. The aroma is of caramel malt and a little dark fruit. The flavor is of toasty caramel malts and mild fruitiness with just a little hops. It didn’t exactly blow me away and could have used some more hops bite, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 6, 2006 Updated: Dec 27, 2006My first Irish Ale. By the looks of the label, better be good. Pours transparent darker brown almost black. Very little aroma. Hoppy impact on the tongue during the first taste. Label says it’s sweet, not much sweeetness in there. Finish lingers bitter for quite a while. Not tremendously impressed with this style but it is acceptable. Too expensive to buy again at this rating. $3 for a 12 oz bottle.
