Clear amber with a light brown head. Arom a of caramel and lightly roasted malt. Sweet and malty with some bitterness. Too much caramel for my taste, but not so bad. From a 50cl bottle shared by a friend

Bottle. Opaque darker brown pour with a clingy white head. Nose is caramel and earthy malts. Medium palate. Taste is sweet caramel, earth, and just a hint of smoke. Not bad.

500ml bottle from LCBO in Thunder Bay, ON poured a reddish amber color with a finger and a half of white head that settled slowly revealing some thin spotty lacing. Aromas are caramel and light toasted malts with some citrus and earthy notes. Taste is quite malty sweet with a pleasing earthy and citrusy hop bitterness. Light to medium body with adequate carbonation leaving a nice feeling on the palate. A very decent Irish red ale that was quite satisfactory.

Poured into original O’Hara’s 0.5l glass which I’ve bought together with beer. The color is reddish with a lot of bubbles. There isn’t a lot of foam and it gradually disappears. It has a pretty intense malt aroma with a slight sensation of alcohol This is the first red beer that I tried and maybe because of that it seems to me that this is one of the best beers I have tried. It has a rich caramel flavor, neither sweet nor bitter, just as it should be. As I said before this was really big surprise for me in a good way. Surely beer that you must try!

Bottle from BeerBier, Bp. Clear ruby colour with a creamy and lasting beige head, which laces and leaves a finger thick pillow behind. Tart, citrus-fruity nose and aroma with caramel, toast and hops, mouthfeel is slick, syrupy. It finishes medium to long and tart escorted by citrusses, nuts and spices. Nice, balanced ale.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before 28 Aug 2011, drank in my hotel lounge after a night out in Cork, Ireland (Nov 2010). Poured into a small, quarter pint tumbler it looked a lovely redwood tree bark colour, bright and clear. A lot better than the two Irish Reds I’d had on tap at one of the bars I’d been in earlier. Creamy head, both in colour and texture, produced some good lacing and stayed on each pour until the end. Sweet malty molasses, toffee apple treacle without the sickly feel, those are the smells I got from the beer. Semi-sweet taste, those molasses and treacle type aromas already mentioned were evident in the flavours also. A bit too sweet for my normal liking, but still enjoyed the beer. Well carbonated and full of life, but somewhat lacking in depth or inner strenght, an OK beer but not an outstanding one in my eyes.
