Laden with complex chocolate and coffee flavours, balnced by a robust bitterness and delicate spicy aroma, O’Hara’s Leann Follain is a full bodied extra Irish stout. 14.5°

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2014 Interessantissima stout.

Bra djup i smakerna, lätt beska. Trevlig.

Bottle from Tallinna Kaubamaja food department (€ 2,15) in May 2014. Black with a hint of chestnut brown; consistent darkish beige head. The distinctly vinuous aroma is bursting with strong coffee and sweetness, kind of like a vanilla and chocolate ice cream cocktail mixed with 2 shots of espresso, a handful of dark smoked fruits and some plum liqueur. It’s also a bit earthy, dirty, smoky, more as it warms. Tase is sweet chocolate, well roasted coffee and bitter hops; finish is on the bitter side, dry and ’grainy’. Body’s surprisingly timid, goes well with the rather sharp and sparkly carbonation. Mouthfeel is soft and a bit oily. Overall it’s somewhat more exciting (and way more sweeter) than Celtic but they’re both good after a hard day’s work or dinner. Celtic maybe with dessert, this here instead of one.

BOTTLE 50CL from dmcchew. Thanks Cristian Mihai. Look: opaque black, mocha frothy head, below avg. retention. Aroma: toasty, roasty, some metal. Taste: rich, roasted, toasted, dark chocolate, some licorice, light hop bitterness. Ashy, slightly salty finish.

Good sized frothy and bubblly light brown head of mixed size bubbles. Light roasty aroma with some milk chocolate and fresh air. Or maybe it is just the Ireland air that I am drinking it in!! Basic roasted irish stout. Toasted grains, a hint of licorice and some molasses. Moderate bitterness at the finish. A decent dry stout.

Is it just me or did this taste like i was drinking an icecream? Anyway, tasty stuff! Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, vanile and caramel, bittersweet dry finish. End of Message.
