4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Really liking this one! The aroma is wham in your face; lots of toasted malt character with a coffee element as well. Pours a dark black with a tan pillowy head that fades to lacing that loves clinging to the pint glass. Taste is somewhat sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee, and especially toasted malt. Finishes exceptionally smooth and flavorful but with enough bitter dryness to prepare you for the next sip.

Black with thin head.
Plenty of bitterness in the aroma and flavour coming from the heavily roasted malts. Balanced and sessionable.

500ml bottle from Reilly’s, Lisnaskea (£2.29):
An okay stout that has a enough flavour with some dark malts & touches of sweetness helping things down, there was the odd hint of smoke coming through & it was definitely strong enough but I didn’t seem quite as good as the brewery’s flagship Irish Stout & as such it’s probably not one that I’d pick up again; drinkable but far from the brewery’s best effort.
