Below a fairly transient, Horlicks-coloured head, the beverage is chestnut with flashes of scarlet. Sweet aromas of plain chocolate, coffee and rum liqueur lift out of the glass, tempting you to take a swig. Satisfyingly full-flavoured, there’s elements of chocolate and salt on the palate, with a nice balance between sweet and bitter. This is a well-rounded beer – you would be equally satisfied drinking a bunch or slowly savouring one, depending on your mood. This Carlsberg’s a keeper.

An excellent alternative to Porters and Stouts. Heavier than most, lots of taste.

Red with an off-white head. Sweet and alcoholic. Some nutflavour, and no more.

Red/Brown color, off-white head. Not much of aroma. Some toffee aroma and...to sweet.

Candidate in the danish beer-election 2003. Nut brown colour. Unpleasant aroma. Synthetic flavour and palate. A very bad replacement for the Carlsberg Imperial Stout! (if that was the intention)

Christian (8548) - Odense, DENMARK - MAY 26, 2003
A great dark amber colour, with a medium size, long lasting head. Not much aroma, just a little malt. All in all a very inoffensive and ordinary beer. Too bad considering that it's made as a specialty.

Aesir (130) - Tustin, California, USA - MAY 20, 2003
A little tiny bit sweet, with a light flavor. Not too bad, maybe even a little bit enjoyable. Definately more enjoyable than getting kicked in the shins...or any part of the body, for that matter.

Dark color. Simple aroma and flavor, a little sweet; drinkable, but not impressive.

omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2003
Bottled. Nut brown. Neutral aroma. Overly sweet with mellow mouthfeel. Lightly nutty, no bitterness in a sticky, syrupy finish.

This dark Carlsberg is very mild and leaves nothing, it is very forgettable. it tastes like the smell of a bicycle tube.
