Carlsberg Carls Hvede

01-JUL-2009. Draft. Funny orange hazy colour. Smells tutti-frutti-like, and the taste is also somewhat artifical. When still very cold, I enjoy it, but as it warms up, it turns to artificial in taste. Nice summer-quafer.

From tap@Det Gule Hus, København. A small offwhite head upon a clear, pale amber colored body. Weak aroma of yellow fruits and some faint wheaty malts. Sugary malt flavor. Sweet lemon notes. Light bodied, sprtizy mouthfeel. Sugary, slight fruity finish.

draft, library bar, cph. aroma a bit faint, but nice, wheat, nothing special tho. looks a bit flat. almost no head. beer looks okay. flavor is a bit old beer taste, faint sourness, and then some ordinary lager+pilsener notes. didn’t make me think hefeweizen. Palate a bit thin, overall quite an uninpressive beer, i hope this draft was a bit old, otherwise it’s worse than i remember from bottle.

Bottle. Pours a straw / yellow colour with big white head. Aroma is wheat, yeast, banana. Flavor is not that dominant with wheat and fruit. Watery and thin. Boring.

Canned. A lawnmover beer, it refreshes without offending anyone. Some wheat aroma, a little banana, maybe. More boring than bad.

Tap at Café Viggo, Copenhagen. Hazy golden/orange color, moderate white head. Aroma is wheat. Flavor is sweet and wheaty. Refreshing and boring.

Aarhus, DK. On tap. Yeasty character of banana and hospital. Quite malty for the style
