COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Bottled, Bog standard Eurofiz but with an extra kick. Some malt but all in all a pretty unmemorable drink, particularly halfway through a session of Belgian strongs.

golden colour,, few head, overwhelming alcohol nose, very heavy and disgusting - a one-dimensional horrible brew

(330ml bottle) Clear golden colour, small foamy white head. Grainy and sweet malty taste with alcohol. Sweet and malty tate with an unbalanced but quite well hopped dry and bitter finish. The alcohol is always present.

Bottle. Poured golden amber. Small hoppy aroma. Light body with small finish. A below average malt beer.

Can: Golden colour, medium fluffy off-white head; mighty fruity (grass, grain, citrus) nose with some hints of alcohol; even thogh it ends with a bitter sweet finish, the main impression is "liquid caramel" or "toffee", quite one-dimensional and nearly bland. But in case of emergency: better than a lousy canned Pils......

Can, RBESG pub crawl, August 2005. Not sure why Kook rushed over to the shop opposite Olbaren to buy a can of this stuff, but I had to give it a go. Sweet, obvious alcohol, adjuncty. Definite wino material. Strangely, I didn’t find it as horrible as I expected. Perhaps I have wino tendencies.

Golden lager with a lacing white head. Aroma of mash tun being cleaned, spent grains and light alcohol. Sharp crisp malt with alcohol warmth. Grainy malt finish. Tasted Spring 2006.

Clear gold, thick bubbles to fluffy, large white head, dissipating. Sweet-malty nose, grainy, alcohol. Alcohol & bitter taste. Obviously lots of malt, maltsugars included, but the first bite is bitter. All three legs (alcohol, bitterness, malt) are raw, harsh, brutal. Nothing is even remotely refined. Sulphury component as in vulcanised rubber. Heavy-bodied beer. And, guess, alcoholburn. This is nasty. Crude, a beery elephant bull in the rutting season.

Not too bad. A small, creamy head covering a yellow body with decent retention and pretty good lacing. A very odd smell: dank marijuana with some alcohol and fruit. Alcohol is evident in the taste and not well hidden. There is some grass as well in the background. Fizzy bubbles cover a slightly creamy mouthfeel.
