English: Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

500mL can found in the ’closeout’ bin post Saint Patrick’s Day. I don’t know how it got mixed in with a bunch of UK beers...but another interesting beer to try on the cheap. Makes me remember Carlsberg beers consumed in Malawi as a Peace Corps volunteer and think back that none of them were this bad. It’s just a lot of alcohol in a golden yellow delivery product. I’d rather drink an IPA with the same abv if alcohol was the only reason to drink.

Surprised this is rated so low. I’m almost wondering if I drank the same thing. The last bit did have a strange aftertaste though.

Golden, white head. Aroma is of sugar, some fruit and caramel, smells artificial. Quite sweet, grains, sugar, caramel, syrup, some grassy herbal hops, low to medium bitter. Strong alcohol but not as much as expected. Moderate body and carbonation. No, just... no.

Clear gold with small white head. Aroma sweet and grainy. Taste grainy, fairly clean, highly drinkable, bit of a metallic finish.

Puszka, 0,5. Kolor ciemnozłoty. Mimo, że piwo procentowo z gatunku tych mocnych, to w smaku nie agresywne, wręcz łagodne. Jak na ten gatunek - to godne polecenia.

Memory banks rate, from when this was common place in UK supermarkets. Pours clear golden with no head. Fizzy. Aromas of malt, booze. Taste is caramel, booze, herbal astringent finish.

0,5 l can bought at the gas station. Bough it just by curiosity not expecting a good beer. For a beer with 7,2 % alcohol it’s pretty ok .Without excessive sweetness or strong alcohol taste.

Presentation: It was poured from a green 11.2oz bottle into a pint glass. The label lists the abv at 7.2% abv. Appearance: The body has a deep yellow color with good clarity and some visible carbonation. On top it sports a bright white fluffy head of foam. It quickly settled down to a wispy thin film covering. Lacing is minimal and slick. Smell: It has a nice bready and grainy maltiness in the nose. It smells sweet with a mild floral hop note for balance. Taste / Palate: The flavor has a light cereal grain sweetness with some mild grassy and floral hops in the finish. The feel is smooth and full with just enough carbonation.

This beer is nicer than the comments of many would suggest. The aroma is well integrated, the malt comes through in the flavors and there some sweetness leading into a moderatly strong earthy bitterness in the finish.

This isn’t as bad as you could be talked into believing it might be, and I’d go as far as saying that it’s not at all bad, and would certainly take you to the wobbly walk home in a hurry, Has some harsh hop edge but it has a sweetness that counters it. Overall it’s light on flavour, big on aroma.
