English: Carlsberg Elephant Beer is an amber-coloured beer with big intensity in its aroma, and with a distinct maltyness. There is notes of honey in the aroma. The palate of Carlsberg Elephant shows a good balance between a good body from the alcohol, and a discrete sweetness which is tamed by the sophisticated bitterness of the aftertaste.

Bottled. For a malt liquor this is okay, but it’s not great by any means. Nothing exciting and pretty bland.

Really had low expectations since its a green bottle beer. Actually was pretty decent.

The descendant of a Scandinavian-style Bock beer Carlsberg already made decades ago, but in its current form, this is just another Euro strong lager aimed at alcoholics. Tasted it fifteen or so years ago when it was still 8% ABV, so this rating is from very old notes. Stable, snow white head over a clear, golden blonde beer; grainy, some malt sweetness, sugary and somewhat cloying sweetness too, a hint of chemical acidity and lots of booze in the finish (as in the nose), with a hint of grassy hops. Never liked this style; this is not the very worst example of it, but far from the best either.

Officially the worst beer I’ve had on RateBeer. Although I’ve certainly jad worse. Budweiser would be an example.

Dark golden colour with a frothy white head. Noses of malts, grainy and corn syrup with a hint of hops. Some carbonation with mainly sweetness to it with a light bitterness. Medium body fast-medium body.

German trip 2010: same story as with Tuborg Pilsener. Alwasy dreamt of sampling it. A good bottle of hard and heavy pale lager. Goes straight to you head. Even when paired with german kebab.

Bottle - pale golden with a fluffy, bright white head. Aroma of honey and flowers. Taste of lager malts, flowers, honey and spice. Quite sweet. Medium bitterness to finish. Light body, medium carbonation. Quite alright.

Based on Carlsberg and the green bottle I expected a little "skunkiness", but when opened the bottle the "aroma" prompted my guests to ask me to take the bottle away. I also could not make it past the the second sip as the smell matched the flavor. Perhaps the pack was bad, but it was recently bottled and sold where I usually buy my beer. It would take a bit for someone to convince me to try this again.

Poured from bottle, clear gold with medium head. Aroma is like a regluar Carlberg but somewhat sweeter, bread and hay. Taste is bitter sweet with clear alcohol break through, too much alcohol for my taste.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden-yellow-orange color with a small head of fizzy white foam. The head fades very rapidly, leaving a bit of foam on the surface of the brew and very little lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a grainy and bready smell along with some other aromas of a hay smell. A little bit of a grass smell and some aromas of a very light, almost smoky, and salty smell are there as well. Taste – The taste begins with a very smooth bready taste that has some hints of light fruit of orange and pear mixed within. As the taste advances some light hay and grain come to the tongue all while the fruit fades and is replaced by some caramel. At the end, just the slightest hint of alcohol and a tiny bit of a floral taste are joined by a little resurgence of the fruit, and end up leaving one with a rather pleasant and somewhat smother and sweet lager like flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is rather thin for a brew of 7.2 % abv with a carbonation level that is rather average. The thinner body makes this a much more approachable and refreshing brew and really matches well the more lager like flavors of the brew, making this one an easy drinker even with its slightly higher abv. Overall –This brew actually delivered much more then I was expecting form the look or smell. It was a rather enjoyable brew overall. While not something all that exceptional, it was both rather refreshing and flavorful. Not a bad one to at least try.
