50 cl can, Sheffield, UK via the corner shop. Medium gold, sweet corn aroma. Strange mouthfeel, carbonation and spice mix together. Honey on the finish.

660 Mil bottle at Pete’s ’housewarming’. Pale piss coloured. A standard Pale Lager with maybe just a tiny bit more. There’s definitely a bit of character to the hops. Grassy, floral. I’m getting carried away. This is a pale lager we’re talking about...

I’m in two minds about this. Usually export lagers brewed under licence don’t float the boat at all, but there was something about this that said to me "Yes, I’m an impostor and you know I am one, but actually I’m quite tasty as well. And it is in that spirit that I threw a Carlsberg back last Sunday night. Bright yellow in colour with obvious carbonation and a white head. Aromas of some sort of metallic hop and flavours of pale malt and the same. The one I drank would have been around 7-9 degrees and actually tasted like something I would want to have another of. So, yes. Well done.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Synnerlligen trist öl, med svaga dofter av hö och citrus, smakar mest ingenting och lite gräs. Menlös.

Draft at Moriartys. Clear pale gold pour with a little white foam. Very, very mild flavors. Hints of lightly toasted wheat. Clementines. Medium carbonation. Nothing to offend but there is nearly nothing there. Feels like only the ghost of an actual beer.

Can, courtesy of Ethiopian Airways. Clear golden body with a thin white film. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing on the tiny plastic cup. Aroma of grain and damp cardboard. Flavour of paper, envelope seal and cereal. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. A flabby, insipid beer.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
440ml can. Pale yellow, small white head, quite effervescent. Relatively hoppy with straw notes, modest malt sweetness and a dash of lemon. The bitterness does well to hide the overbearing graininess of the standard Carlsberg. Medium carbonation, light body, on the watery side but has a decent length to the finish.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Another bad beer on a day of bad beers while watching the darts at the Lakeside. Straw coloured with a frothy white head. No strong flavours other than a touch of caramel sweetness and a hint of citrus on the finish.. Ultimately bland and watery, but inoffensive.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma: The smell is of malt, sweet white bread, some citric and some faint hoppiness.
Appearance: A clear light straw colored beer, a rather small white head but leaving good lacing.
Taste: Sweet cornflakes and newly baked bread, some faint sourness going over to a dryer bitterness.
Palate: Medium high carbonation, a full and clean body.
Overall: Certainly not the best beer in the world, but good enough.
Note: On tap at Raw. Reviewed 2010-07-15.
