2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ungstrup (26237) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUL 13, 2011
Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma has notes of grain and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, grain, and straw, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing this gem.

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body under a small, off-white head that lasts. Rather hoppy aroma, hay, grass, pine cones and flowers dominates, leaving little room for the maltyness. It’s quite bitter in the mouth, medium to full bodied and quite smooth and dry. There’s more room for the malts in the mouth than what it was in the flavor, but it’s far from malt accented. Lasting bitterness in the end. A quite decent lager beer. Not that I think I’ll buy more of it, but I’d rather drink this than the regular Carlsberg, by far. 111030

MUCH better than the UK standard Carlsberg. Pours clear and golden and has some head. Aroma sweet malt. A little more syrupy and malty than the UK Carlseberg. Sorry to keep comparing but it’s my benchmark. Not a fantastic lager but certainly better than the bog standard version.

The best mainstream Euro-lager I’ve had so far. Don’t let the dank, generic grain aroma put you off, the admittedly slightly metallic taste isn’t bad and it doesn’t hang around long enough to offend anyway: you put it in your mouth, swallow, and the flavour makes a clean, crisp getaway. Drinkable and probably fairly good value for money.

50 cl. can @ home, bought @ Albert Heijn. Golden with a white head. The head was quickly gone but left some lacing. Aroma of malts, hops and sugar. Taste is likt most macro brews. Middle of the road lager with a thin aftertaste.

As a Northerner, I almost drank it with mother’s milk. Classical taste to match the dining table as on itself.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Bart (2915) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JUN 10, 2012
Draught, somewhere in London. Golden blond coloured lager with a short white head and some medium carbonation. Sweet pilsener malty touched aroma. Medium palate. Finish is sweet pilsener malty again, no surprises decent but no great lager.

Botella. Clear yellow golden like, small white bubbly head. Grassy hoppy flowery like aroma. Ok mouthfeel. Flavour is fresh with grassy hops and some malt, good bitterness for a pale lager style, bit dry in the finish. Bette rthan I thought. More bitterness than a normal Carlsberg.

I’m in two minds about this. Usually export lagers brewed under licence don’t float the boat at all, but there was something about this that said to me "Yes, I’m an impostor and you know I am one, but actually I’m quite tasty as well. And it is in that spirit that I threw a Carlsberg back last Sunday night. Bright yellow in colour with obvious carbonation and a white head. Aromas of some sort of metallic hop and flavours of pale malt and the same. The one I drank would have been around 7-9 degrees and actually tasted like something I would want to have another of. So, yes. Well done.
