COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
G.L Carlsberg Imperial Stout Porter was introduced in 1930, won the silver medal in 1996 World Championships, and is still remembered as the world’s best Porter. Sold in bottles and cans.

Aromas and flavours are dominated by caramel, liquorice, Munich malt and roasted chocolate malt, providing a deep dark brown colour with light brown foam.

Serving suggestions: Should be served at 7-10 C. Its strong character makes it suitable for the cold winter months. Its caramelized malt flavor pair well with game, roast pork, sausage, potatoes, ham or desserts with chocolate. It could also be enjoyed by itself or mixed with lemon water.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2014 Thanks to Toms, canned version
This one is sample of good balance, not too bitter and could be little more sweet, but thats the point. Pours deep, deep reddish, almost black with small, soapy, cream-brown top. On nose it comes pleasant dominant roasted malts, some cocoa and light chocolate tones, yeasty sweetness, no sugary touch, min hopping level. Taste is light sweet and medium+ bitter from darker malts, again didn’t sensed hops. Dry finish, medium bodied, watery and a bit slick texture, mild carbonation, no boozy defects. Very enjoyable balance, not sugary sour aftertaste, nice.

0,5 l can from SuperBrugsen, Hals, Denmark. ABV is 8,2%. Black with a dense brown fingerthick head leaving excellent lacing. Lovely milky roasted nose with coffee and wooden notes present. Full bodied and smooth to drink. Roasted flavors through and through. Coffee, chocolate. A suiting and far from overpowering alco warmth. Long roasted finish. Recommended.

On 50cl can. Pours pitch black with a short lasting, tan head. Aroma has roasted- and caramel malts, dades, watery banana-like fruits, caramelized sugar. Taste is slightly more bitter, good roast, caramel, bitter-hoppy aftertaste, and a tiny bit of fruit. slight watery malt profile, though it has rather full body. Medium-high carbonation. Great value beer for sure!

Typical Baltic porter though the label also says "imperial stout", attesting the common ancestry of both styles. Yellowish beige, thin but stable head, colour blackish; roasted and subduedly fruity aroma and taste, hint of soy sauce, finish very roasted bitter, oily mouthfeel. Very tasty and stood the test of time well, gained some madera notes after years of aging.

Shared from a tallboy can into snifter glasses, definitely one of the coolest canned beers I’ve had, thanks John! Despite the porter/Imperial stout title, this is fermented with Carlsberg lager yeast, so a good example of the Baltic Porter style. Near-opaque very dark brown colour with sudsy, long-lsasting beige foam. Caramelly and toasty, some black cherry and plum fruity notes, chocolate, coffee, licourice, subtle roast, a bit boozy but very tasty. Medium body and carbonation, lingering bittersweet aftertaste, warming but otherwise well-concealed 8.2% alcohol.

Very surprised by this brew. A Carlsberg, cheap and yet lots of aroma and flavours?! Standard porter appearance maybe a bit thin head. Nose is sweet burnt wood and salty liquorice. Taste is roasted malts, more liquorice and sweet burned toffee. Full bodied. I really dig this beer considered the price and brewery behind it.

Dark brown, almost black colour with small beige head. Aroma has some roasted malts and some coffee. Flavor has some chocolate and some licorice.
