Gold, lightly carbonated with a tight, white head which holds fairly well. Hoppy aroma, and a nice dry, hoppy flavour. Some hint of sweet maltiness in the flavour also.

The Lager of Lagers. Citrus and freshness in the nose with a simple, bit pissy bur refreshing taste. Still one of my most favourite Lager beers.

Bottle and tap. The only lager to pay for. Good for sucking on. Rather weak, but probably
lager from the Nordic countries. Refreshing, grave. Once you get past the wide, yet
mostly boring palate there is the aftertaste, which I am addicted to. Something about its
thickness suprises me and grows thicker each time. Danish lager is, afterall, the best
lager in Scandinavia. Often compared to Heineken, but Heineken is weak, thin and bumpy
kerosene compared to this. Take a swig and enjoy the hops. Textured, yet in the end boring.
Take it for what it is. If you don’t want a boring beer, don’t drink lager.

This review is for the Carlsberg Lager brewed locally here in Cyprus (first ever outside of Denmark), both on draught and bottled. I’’ve tasted CL in other countries and it’s just not the same.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2010 This beer it’s my favourite, because has a good balance of bitter and aromas.
The smells is rich in cereals with a touch of hop aroma.
The tap Danish version is more better than the others.

I do not write reviews typically, though I was compelled to do so in this case. I feel that Carlsberg is being given a bad name to all of the ale and IPA lovers, and to a Lager guy, this is an excellent beer. Looking at the top 50 of this website, it is ale after ale, and I just wonder how much of the rating has to do with ale lovers being more vocal. This is an excellent lager, fans of Amstel and Stella would agree.
