Bottled. 2004-vintage. Nice beige head on top of a reddish-brown beer. Sweet, alcoholic aroma. Sweet and spicy flavor, with the usual christmas-spices. Long, warming and sweet finish. Probably the best of the Semper Ardens beers, and a year on bottle don’t harm it. (051104)

Muddy amber-brown colour with limited head. Aroma of caramel and anis. It is a bit alcoholic, taste of caramel, burnt malts and some sweet spices. Overall not as sweet as other Christmas Ales but it is more spicyness than bitterness.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Pinball (9664) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 4, 2008
Being not that fond of sempder ardens, i was surprised by this christmas ale. It is definetly in the top 25% of christmas ales i have tasted this year. It is uncomplicated and extremely well balanced. If You like an uncomplicated, but very good christmas brew, this is a good choice. Alc.% is quite high, but you won’t notice until you try to walk around. The brew is good enough to be able to handle 8.3%.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (9569) - Thisted, DENMARK - MAR 17, 2007
I have tasted both the 2004 and the 2005 and have some in my cellar for maturing. Its a mahogany red beer, with a nice and creamy head. The mouthfeel is rather oily, and the aroma has sweetness, notes of raisins and plum. The flavour has a lot of dark fruits like raisins, plums, fig, roasted malt, cane sugar, nuts and coriander in the finish. A nice beer indeed!
