Doesn’t smell nearly strong enough to be a stout, some scent of barley and hops but not much. But yup, looks like a stout for sure and has a nice head to boot. Sticks around for awhile, which is all I personally want. Not a strong flavour for a stout, in fact a very weak flavour. Kind of syrupy, sort of like molasses. Seems to be a weaker excuse for a stout but I guess it’s pretty good if you’re just measuring it by Malawi stout standards - as the only one available!

Bottle in Malawi. I haven’t seen this anywhere else, but after looking on Carlsberg’s site and Googling a bit, I found out that this is indeed a special brew for Malawi. Dark transparent/translucent brown color with minimal head. Roasty and sweet aromas of chocolate. Slight coffee. Thin palate, but loads of sugar and chocolate on the palate. Not bad, but much too sweet for my taste.
