2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Beer3000 (3096) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAR 14, 2008
500 ml bottle. Dark reddish body with a thin off-white head. Aroma is honey, heather and flowers. Flavor is very sweet honey with a hint of citrus. I really don’t like this to much but I wouldn’t really say its bad neither. Just not very complex.
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 gnoff (5004) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 25, 2007
(50 cl bottle from Systembolaget) Clear deep red to dark brown color, big tan head. Very floral and sweet perfumy mixed with lemon scent. It’s more like enetring a perfume store than sniffing a mead. It’s not that the smell is un-pleasant, but it doesn’t smell like something I want to put in my mouth. Well, I did, but I almost regret it. A mix of perfume and roasted malt, leaving a floral perfumy pot-purri aftertaste. This one I can’t bare to have any more of, it will go down the drain. Terrible stuff. Spritzy mouthfeel and no bitterness. Pretty much utterly disgusting. The label on the bottle states "Contains: water, malt, hops, yeast and aroma of honey" Sounds to me they didn’t even put real honey in there. Stay away from this piece of crap.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 gunnfryd (7042) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - FEB 6, 2007
Bottle. Dark golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus and honey. Flavour is citrus, honey, malt.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 yngwie (9188) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 30, 2007
Bottled. Clear, dark golden with a nice off-white head and some carbonation. Honey dominates the aroma, but not in a pleasant way at all, and is followed by notes of heather and lemon. The flavor is weaker, but honey and lemon are there too. Thin, papery and a bit sticky mouthfeel and a finish with lemon and honey-sweetness with some hops. Is this one really selling? (070104)
1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 2/20 ekstedt (3783) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JAN 27, 2007
UPDATED: APR 4, 2007 Looks decent when poured into the glass. But a thick, overwhelming aroma of honey quickly spreads in the room, and it gets even worse in the mouth. Could only drink 1/3 of the bottle. Terrible.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 MiP (11783) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JAN 8, 2007
Bottle, 5.2%. Very sweet honey aroma. The flavour is not as sweet as expected. Some cough syrup notes appear at the back of my throat.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 5, 2006
Slightly cloudy dark amber with a small disappearing head. Aroma of old leather and very stale honey. Flavour is a little spicy, with some weird honey flavours. This one was beyond me, filthy.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Tranquillity (1338) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - AUG 28, 2006
Bottle. This beer is brewed according to the renheitsgebot with one addition: aroma of honey. There is not indication wether this is natural or not. I find this to be a surprisingly fresh beer which unfortunately finishes abruptly without leaving so much as a trace. The aroma is strong of real honey, and the colour is like a light dunkles hefeweizen. Not bad flavour, although the honey is missing. It has more of a bitterness than other means and honey beers. Dare I guess this is a lager? Not a bad beer, but I doubt I will buy this one next time I have the opportunity to visit Systembolaget, the only store where this can be bought afaik.
