COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pours a dark mahogany with a thin light-tan head. Toasty, lightly burnt dark caramel malty aroma. Body starts with a sweet sugary earthy caramel flavor turning slightly sticky toward a thinner lightly roasted finish.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2003 1 flavour: roasted malt. and lots of it. otherwise thin and watery and shitty. but if you imagine it's a rauchbier then it's almost ok. rerate: this is foul and pestilent. i should also apologise for originally adding this beer under "porter" two years ago, when I didn't know better - a few raters here are flinging shit at CUB that should be flung in my direction instead (well where else should it go? old ale? schwarzbier? we need a "bland industrial dark ale" style)

a carlton beer with flavour. Not too bad either, toasted malt with a bit of chocolate in there as well, needs more body but ok.

From the people responsible for VB; I was expecting far worse. Mild bitterness with roasty black malt flavours it tasted a bit watery yet had a decent mouthfeel. Passable but one dimensional.

This is not bad and a good beer to drink off tap. Hints of roasted malts and quite smooth.

Ok to chug away, doesn’t blow you away with flavour, but its quite alright, good chocolte and slightly roasty malt flavours, but a bit light on.
