COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carlton Cold was launched in 1993 and enjoys a significant share of the packaged full-strength beer segment. Cold is produced with a cold-filtration process, pioneered in Australia by Carlton & United Breweries and is also the first beer in Australia to be packaged in clear glass and the only beer packaged in unbreakable PET bottles.

Bottle, in GB. Light golden with white head, almost lasting, OK lacings. Aroma moderate malty, light/moderate hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet, light bitter, vaerage duration. Light body, watery, soft carbonated.

Pale golden, clear, medium head. I wouldn’t go so far as calling this "foul", but it is pretty boring. Sweet malt is really all you get for flavour (the same as all corn-adjunct, over-processed pale lagers on the market). I wouldn’t choose to drink it again if an alternative were available, but I wouldn’t turn it down if the beerfridge was empty on a Friday night. This is my standard review for all "two-star-or-less" piss.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2005 Bottled. With a bottle that looks like a Corona clone at least you could hope for something tasteless. Nah, instead they packed this golden coloured, headless beer with rotten pea soup flavour in a sea of saccharine sweetness. Of course there were no hops or malt. It is actually hard to imagine a beer tasting much more awful...

Bottle. Golden colour with a medium white head. Weak malty aroma and a light sweet malty taste. Light body and a thin finish.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2005 (Bottle 37,5 cl) Fully golden, nice creamy head. Lightly sweetish, sticky malt-feel. Pretty much no hoppiness. A yuppie-beer in it’s clear glass bottle. 210205

Looks good in a clear bottle but has no distinct flavour. Like the crown, it looks better then it tastes

Tasted in the interest of completeness.

Ultra clear gold to brown - very CUB like. Faint nose with some malts and some staleness, and, believe it or not, that winery smell you get when visiting the tank & fermentation area. Not a bad thing, except when it pops up in the bouquet of a beer.

Not as neutral in the mouth as I expected. Still a little stale but some ok maltiness lurks, bit of surprise actually. Very bloody fizzy as one would expect. Better than VB.
