COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carlton Cold was launched in 1993 and enjoys a significant share of the packaged full-strength beer segment. Cold is produced with a cold-filtration process, pioneered in Australia by Carlton & United Breweries and is also the first beer in Australia to be packaged in clear glass and the only beer packaged in unbreakable PET bottles.

Pale golden, clear, medium head. I wouldn’t go so far as calling this "foul", but it is pretty boring. Sweet malt is really all you get for flavour (the same as all corn-adjunct, over-processed pale lagers on the market). I wouldn’t choose to drink it again if an alternative were available, but I wouldn’t turn it down if the beerfridge was empty on a Friday night. This is my standard review for all "two-star-or-less" piss.

Bottled. Damn this stuff is really crap. Very grainy. Bland & sharp taste. Pie coloured. ’Cold’ must be a warning; I drank it at around 12 degrees Celsius. Must definately be much colder to prevent you from actually tasting it.

presario (4133) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 13, 2004
Gold thin beverage. BIt of carbonation and a long lasting but slightly clupy merangue-like head. Bit of lacing. Thin but slighly bad-vegetable-like aroma. The first one tasted ghastly, but to be fair a second one seemed to go down smoother. When I picked it up at the liquor store, as a new beer to the area, I was given the usual "an Aussie came in and said that this was what Aussies actually drink back home". God help them. Has that bad vegetable and sweetness taste hinted at in the aroma followed by a long lasting bitterness that does not come from hops.

Bottle. [Courtesy of yespr, thanks buddy] Average egg-white head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Clear golden colour. Aroma of hops, cardboard, grass, grain, caramel. Light bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry texture. Light bitter and sweet flavour. Light dry and bitter finish.

Dark golden with a large, frothy white head. In fact it looks pretty good. The aroma is wet dog. Very slight citric taste but very watery and with no appreciable bitterness.

Clear fluorescent yellow color, short dying head. Aroma is like corona, like a tequila mix drink, with a hint of lemon. Probably quite nice in summer when it’s very hot, but I visited Sydney in Ozzie Winter.

Sigmund (3711) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - SEP 4, 2008
375 ml clear bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.6%. Crystal clear pale golden colour, fizzy, with a big to moderate lasting white head. Moderate fruity aroma, notes of candy and citrus. Zesty mouthfeel. The flavour is moderately sweet with some fruity notes, minimal hops, bland finish. Not much to write home about here. Far from undrinkable though.

OleR (3658) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 20, 2008
375 ml bottle. Good-looking, mostly diminishing white head. Brilliant golden color. A note of fruit and cardboard to the nose. Light sugary grain flavor. A touch unfresh bittering hops and a light lemony note. Skinny body. Fruity, light sourish ending. Not that bad, utterly boring only.

Bottle at Coco’s Outback, Amsterdam. Yellow body with white head. Nose of corn. Watery with little flavour. Skunky finish.

Light yellow colored, little white head. Aroma is lemony with sweet malts, light aroma. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is as aroma: thin with sweet lemon and some carbonation. Some esters in aftertaste. Clean but dull beer.
