2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Drinkable but hardly spectacular. Made so it can easily be smashed down on a warm Oz day. Light malts and no hops to be seen. Bit of caramel in the palate.

dough, amber, hazy, minimal head, lightly sour, light body, astringent. Extraordinarily faint odor. Very little head. Metallic. Could pass as a fermented genki drink. The Lipovita of beers. I’m oddly compelled to keep drinking it.

A Crownie for a special occasion just doesn't have the same meaning anymore. They say it's just a trumped up VB. I reckon VB is better. At least it's not trying to be something it's not. The beer tastes like the metal tank it's been sitting in.

Bottle 375 ml at the Bald Faced Stag in Leichhardt, Sydney, on July 12, 2013.
BB 13 OCT 13.
Clear golden color, white head. Sweet, sugary taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness. Sweet, malty scent. Pretty much a standard macro lager, uninspiring.
Draught after the tour at Carlton Brewhouse, Melbourne. On July 29, 2013.
Clear straw yellow color, white head. Sweet, vegetable taste. Vegetable aftertaste. Medium to smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Sweet scent

Gold colour, moderate head and condition. Some malt in the aroma, watery in the mouth with a creeping bitterness into the finish.

Almost no aroma. The most aroma-less beer I can remember, only an almost undetectable hint of chlorine. Not until it’s been in the glass for a while (there’s no temptation to knock this back quickly) does a bit of grassiness come out. Taste is blandly oversweet. Mouthfeel is actually pretty good for such a shitty beer, feels reasonably full , slightly creamy even.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Pours a clear amber, with a white frothy head that fades quickly. Nose is wet cardboard and just the faintest hint of citrus. Taste is a bit of citrus, some cardboard and some bread. Not good.

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Better than most of the other shitty lagers on rotation at the moment but still a mass produced tasting beer.

There are worse macros on the market. The straw and cardboard aromas are at least elevated by a little hops, though it’s very short on tasting with only the slightest hop flavour and seemingly no malt to speak of.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
375 ml bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow colour, foamy white head that diminishes and a hay & fruity malt aroma. Taste is sweetish malt & grain, with grassy, straw and cardboard notes, and a sourish bitter finish. Light bodied, one to drink cold.
