1.1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 Austbloke (10) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 1, 2005
Suppose to be one of the flagship premium beers in Australia. How it ever got any rating as a premium beer is beyond me.
The battle is lost even before you get this stuff in to your mouth. An off rotting type smell that does nothing to help the palate. Still it does have a good clear golden look with a nice gold label.
All in All probably the worst beer in Australia other then Tooheys Red and its close relation VB.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 budman12 (10) - USA - OCT 14, 2005
This is a very expensive Aussie beer. The beer just does not justify the price as any Aussie could tell you. It’s not like it’s here where a 12 of Michelob is only a couple of dollars more then a Bud 12. It’s a big difference between a VB 12 and a Crown Lager 12.
Besides the price it’s just a simple mass produced beer. There are better beers down under then this one.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 fourxmate (10) - AUSTRALIA - JUN 7, 2007
A very easy summer beer. Less edgy then many of the newer beers coming on the local market however the only way you would know it was premium is from the label. Great for a aussie local but not quite world class
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 KahunaBurger (9) - USA - AUG 10, 2006 does not count
I really don’t know what these other fools are drinking, but this is definitely one of my favorite Aussie beers next to James Squire. It comes at a high price both in indulgence and out of the wallet. It’s definitely worth it if you can shell out the bucks.

Watery, and lacks any significant flavour. Too simple, nothing there. Good appearance though.
1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 BeerFiend (7) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 13, 2004 does not count
Nothing revolutionary here, other than the clever marketing which has seen this become the Aussie 'everyman' beer. There was even a wild rumour doing the rounds a few years back that proclaimed this to be the beer that The Pope drinks! The 'Crownie' is a richer cousin of Carlton and United's Victoria Bitter. There is more taste than a VB, but it's nothing memorable and only suitable for drinking at a very cold temperature. The bottom line on Crown Lager is that it's not a 'Premium Beer' in spite of its premium price.
2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fonker (7) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 24, 2001 does not count
Highly overrated beer over here in Australia. Is nothing compared with premium European lagers. The cricket team seems to like it though...
2.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Crow99 (6) - Adelaide, AUSTRALIA - JAN 4, 2002 does not count
crisp, flavourless beer sold as the Premium beer in Australia but in that regard is vastly overrated.
too expensive to drink in large quantities, and not good enough to really want to.

Crap. The 2nd worst beer in Australia in front of VB, which is also crap. Wouldn’t feed it to my dog, who is dead
