1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 lordhumungus (14) - AUSTRALIA - NOV 20, 2006
Clearly not a real premium beer. Just a tad superior to the more inferior mass market "beer" products that abound. A bit sickly up front and lacking in both hops and malt - give me a heineken any day!

375 ml bottle - Pale yellow gold with a mostly diminishing white head. Thin bodied with medium carbonation. Weak in flavour with a stale metallic finish.

From a 375ml bottle on 20/11/2010. You’d be hard pressed to be able to tell this apart from Carlton Draught if you did a blind tasting. The barely perceptible aroma is not particularly nice. Taste wise it’s just a bit of slightly chemical malt sweetness, finished off by a very moderate bitterness. If this delivers a "creamy fruit taste and rich, malty palate", I’m the Pope. A horrible pale lager with almost nil personality. Loses marks for trying to con the foolish into believing it’s something special with its fancy bottle and label, and premium price. If this is the type of beer that blows your hair back, go a Carlton Draught - at least its cheaper and lacks the pretension.

375ml bottle. For so long this has been seen as the flagship of premium Australian beer - what a joke. Nothing enjoyable about this at all. Poured a clear gold colour with a thin veil of foam across the top and a bland aroma.

manufactured with insinglass, so not vegetarian friendly. Otherwise a high carb, heavyish feeling, lager. Overt in body and weak in flavour.

Funky bottle. Actually, aside from "golden", all my notes have are numbers and a description of the bottle.

Chuck Hahn tasted fosters and crown blind together and swore they were the same beer, It’s funny how a marketing budget bigger than it’s budget for ingredients can make the Aussie public believe that this is a good beer.

If you’re silly enough to spend good money on this over-priced sludge, then you’re probably only drinking it to be fashionable anyway. Not a real beer drinker’s beer!
1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 damirvrkic (56) - Franklin ACT, AUSTRALIA - SEP 23, 2002
This beer sucks. So overpriced and overrated. I laugh at the wanna be’s who drink this stuff and think they are cool. We’ll your not because you are the sucker who spent alot of money drinking this crap while I spend the same amount for a Pilsner Urquell!

Simply put "this beer is terrible for the price" go drink one of the many similar cheaper terrible beers. Best part is the bottle
