COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carlton Draught is one of Australia's biggest selling tap beers. This traditional full strength lager, available nationally, is renowned for delivering "brewery fresh" taste. Carlton Draught provides a crisp mid-palate flavour which is balanced with a clean hop bitterness and a slightly dry finish.

Maybe if this was all you had to drink, you’d hate it, but I can’t understand why all the Australians and New Zealanders seem so down on this stuff. Sure, it’s nothing special, but most American mass-produced beers are nothing special either. I had a couple of glasses of this with a lunch at the St. Kilda Hotel in Melbourne and couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Draught. Sweet, insipid, sickly. Yuck. And served everywhere on the Victoria southern coast - why?

Light golden colour, minimal malt and hop aroma. Thin bodied and slight bitter finish.

Tasted 05/09/2008. Schooner from tap at a pub in the lovely town of Kenilworth. A slightly deeper gold and a shade more nutty sweetness than the other pale lagers I tried in Australia. Other than that it was the same - off-dry with the slightest hint of bitterness and best consumed on a hot day after you’ve become sick of water.

The best of the Australian macros by far. Still doesn’t make it anything special but if you’re at a pub and it’s a choice between this or VB, Tooheys, XXXX, West End etc - Carlton wins hands down every time. Not that I have to say it but don’t bother with the bottled/canned product.

The only time I have ever drunk this was when the only other choice was Victoria Bitter. It tastes bad.. really bad but does not hav the foul after taste of the Aussie favourite Victoria Bitter. Pours with tiny head which deminishes within seconds of pouring. Tangy artificial taste which comes from these beers which are bottle the same day they are brewed and on the shelves only a few days after that.

a fantastic beer, that could be marketed alot better in QLD in competition with XXXX Draught. a very nice full strength beer that goes down well in an old style pub. That raw flavor of a well aged well designed quality ale.
