Carlton Draught is one of Australia's biggest selling tap beers. This traditional full strength lager, available nationally, is renowned for delivering "brewery fresh" taste. Carlton Draught provides a crisp mid-palate flavour which is balanced with a clean hop bitterness and a slightly dry finish.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2013 I find it unbelievable that many Aussies continue to drink this by choice, especially now that we have so many good / craft beers to choose from. Tasteless on the best of days, putrid flat pond water on most others. Please don’t judge our beers on this mass market garbage. Warning-more than one of these induces a really bad headache, carry some Nurofen if you’re planning to drink it.

More old Aussie pale lager crap from CUB. Years ago I drank this and got shocking hangovers, it is utterly disgusting and drank by an ocean of idiots. Avoid.

Bottle from walkabout UK. Clear golden colour not much head, but drunk from bottle. Aroma has a touch of malt. Taste is dull and life less, I’ve had worse much worse.

A bit of a deep golden color with a white head. Grainy aroma with a bit if sweetness. Bland with a slightly off-putting pebbly grain flavor. Not something I’d want to drink too much of.

Keg - Newport Arms, Newport, NSW. A golden amber colour with a small, somewhat lasting and lacing white head. Tangy mid-fruits, corn, grain and some biscuity malt characters. Finishes with a subtle pithy, grainy bitterness, an underlying biscuity sweetness and a tang of mid-fruits. Light to medium body, medium carbonation ending on a short, low intensity bitterness. Lacking somewhat in interest and refreshment value.

The only beer I’ve ever thrown in the bin! Tastes like dish water, nothing nice about this bland mess from the bottle but from the tap it is slightly better

Another boring mainstream Aussie lager. The bland flavour, soft carbonation, and subtle candy like sweetness makes this beer exceptionally unpleasant.

Pours a clear golden color with slight orange undertone. White head tops is semi-resistant. There is a malty aroma, slightly smelly and some soury feel to it. The taste is malty, sweet and light. A little bitterness in the finish. Not what I expected, but drinkable.

Stale aroma, slight hint of honey and fruit. Clear golden colour with poor head. Honey malt flavor with poor aftertaste. Light body with low carbonation.

Even the unpasteurised freshly brewed version of this beer (available on tap at Beer Deluxe in Melbourne) is still pretty awful. Negligible nose and taste of sweetcorn malts and a touch of hay. Bland.
