2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
For my liking, stouts should be meaty with plenty of coffee/chcoloate/burnt malt flavours and aromas. This brew is very middle of the road. Somewhat sweet on the initial taste, but doesnít blur into a bitter finish like expected.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a 750ml bottle. Better than I expected with a twist off cap. Chocolate, coffee/mocha, caramel, fruity, dry finish. A solid stout experience.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown and settles near black with hints of ruby. Half finger of light brown head that turns to film quickly. Some streaky lacing.
Nose is chocolate, astringent coffee, roast and some dark fruits. Chocolate and coffee really stand out well for what this is.
Taste is roast, over extracted coffee, and chocolate. No hop bitterness but a lot of coffee notes and some acid from the coffee. Quite bold for the ABV level.
Thins out a lot on the mouth but the astringent coffee remains and it a deterrent. Light body and feel for the amount of coffee and chocolate taste. Gets watery quickly. Decent in a pinch.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle is a month pat it's Best By Date.
Aroma is a balanced blend of chocolate and roast with a bit of a dark fruit ester like plums or prunes. There is a bit of an oxidized and stale character but it isn't too bad.
Pours a dark brown with a thin, dark tan head that has fairly good retention. Moderate lacing and small legs.
Flavor is similar to aroma with the dark malts being balanced between chocolate and roast with sweet chocolate being more prevalent upfront. There is a bit of dark fruit with some cherry, plum and berry. Once the fruit and chocolate fades you are left with a fairly astringent, burnt coffee flavor. Low bitterness and no hop flavor. Malt character is a bit stale and oxidized but really not bad.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Astringency is moderate and there is medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall this beer is better than expected and it has held up better than I would have expected. That being said, the astringency is a bit on the strong side and the eaters are as well. It's a fairly sweet stout as well.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours totally black with a brown head. Aroma is malt, chocolate, plenty of roasty notes and some soy sauce. Taste is light to medium bitter leading to a moderate bitter and quite roasty finish. Not bad.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Not good at all. Pours a nice black with a brown head, but that is the only high mark. Smell is gross, like sweet rubbing alcohol. Slightly chocolate. Taste is similar, like very bitter medicine. I feel like we might have gotten a bad bottle, because none of the other reviews say anything like this, but it was unmistakable rubbing alcohol. Had in the bottle, but poured out the rest. Not often that we have had to do that. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black as a politicianís heart; froths up a good two-finger head. Dissipates eventually leaving some not bad lacing.
There isnít much aroma other than a light hint of malt.
Same in the mouth, but with a bit of chocolate and a good hit of coffee.
Taste is a fairly pleasant bitterness with a sweet toasted malt undertone.
Mouthfeel is a little thin. Lively carbonation.
Itís a decent stout. Nothing remarkable, but for $3.50, Iím not complaining.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Considering some of the outher Australian stouts that taste like a muddy puddle after a flood, this was excellent stuff. Nice chocolate nose, with a bit of a leathery touch, but not strong. Flavours of roast malts, chocolates, quite bitter and salty. Dry finish, with a grand finale explosion of bitterness, which is quite pleasant. Hard to find this stout, even in Australia.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a smooth and very dark brown color. The scent of sweet malts and pour indicates this will be a very smooth sweet milk stout. Flavor is quite robust and full of flavor. A great taste of caramel malts and other robust flavors. Smooth as can be to drink with just the right amount of taste to it. For a huge bottle I didnít expect it to be this good! Definitely worth trying!

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
POurs black with a soapy tan ring.
Scent is roast coffee and chocolate.
Taste is quite ashy, chocolate, coffee...
Slightly oily and smoky.
A very decent stout for the price...and on itís own merits as well.
