Always loved this big bottle of stout with a very basic label. Always $3 or less when I find it, it never disappoints . A great all around Australian stout. Nice and bitter with roasted malts and a lot of chocolate flavor. I wish it was easier to find.

375ml bottle. It's an ok stout. I've had much better. A throwback to older days. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An Australian beer that seemed to warrant a try, Sheaf Stout missed the style completely. This beer might have been skunked because it got generally good reviews but the one I tried was terrible. Mouth feel was too carbonated and not syrupy enough for a stout, and there was a weird old leather kind of taste that can only be described as a taste of the Outback...and the Outback tasted bad. The chocolate and roast notes were lackluster. On top of that, it is served in a giant bottle so you have double the volume to choke down if you’re resolve allows it.

Pours opaque and nearly black with a thin, quickly dissipating tan head. Doughy, slightly bitter roasted malt aroma. Flavor has a light sourness upfront, quite a bit of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a lightly bitter finish. A decent, easy drinking, medium-bodied stout.

Skyview Tasting, Nov. 11, 2011. One of those beers I have passed by hundreds of times, until it finally showed up at a tasting. I did not realize it was a foreign stout, otherwise I would have sought it out before. Dry. Lightly roasted grain and smooth palate. Black. No complexity really, a dark stout. Perfectly drinkable.

Believe the hype. Easily CUB’s best beer in the core range. Shows quite a bit; chocolate, cola, roast, coffee. Really easy to like and super quaffable. Good buying at well under $6 a long neck.

750 mL bottle. Pours black with a medium tan head and nice lacing. The aroma is nice milk chocolate, oak, earthy notes, and lots of roasted malts. The flavor is very sweet and roasty. The palate is heavy, syrupy, and smooth. The aftertaste is mildly bitter, and a little alcohol burning. Overall, this is an excellent stout. Well balanced and great flavor.
