COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carlton Sterling is a double hopped 2.5% lager and as its name suggests, is a true marque of brewing excellence made from world-class ingredients. The finest of pale malts and roasted barley are used to create malt flavour and colour. Noble Saaz hops and Australian Pride of Ringwood hops provide a subtle yet distinctive hop aroma and flavour. CUBs unique double hopped brewing process, normally reserved for premium beers, maximises flavour to create a light beer of distinction. Its this unique character that brings an extra layer of flavour to this excellent quality low alcohol beer.

Draught at Irish Murphy, Ballarat. Pale yellow. A hint of Pride of Ringwood hops. After that sweetness, fizz and emptiness. Hello? Anybody in there?

Chlorine nose and surprisingly i picked up some malt and hops, but they’re very, very faint. Really watery and nothing overly offensive about it except the fact that it has no flavour (slight hoppy finish), slightly sweet, slightly bitter, but too close to water to have an overwhelming amount of any flavour sensation, luckily i had a Chimay rouge and an Aventinus to back me up after this.

failed to take my breath away. for people who find the complexity of flavours in fosters light ice a little too confronting

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2006 Pale golden, clear, medium head. I wouldn’t go so far as calling this "foul", but it is pretty boring (even allowing for it being a light beer). A whiff of hops, but nothing on the palate. Watery.

Pale golden colour with a very average head. Light hoppy nose. Metallic hoppy taste that was slightly soapy and a bit watery.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2004 Bottled, in Sydney. Clear amber coloured body with a fine white head. Thin bitter aroma. Thin flavour. With the tyranny that governs this nation and the vast distances people travel by car, there’s strong subclass of beers with only half the strength of the regular beers. You can’t help but pick them up. This was one of those sad half-caste creations.

375ml bottle. I didn’t klnow they still made this, found it on the shelf atr First Choice on the Sunshine Coast. I remeber drinking this stuff back in the day before decent craft beer was available. Bit of colour for a low alcohol beer and carries a whiff of white foam. Cereal in the aroma is no surprise.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2003 Bit of a worry when you only have to change one of the default ratings. OK I know this is a light beer but that does not excuse the lack of essential features of a good beer. Sure it looks OK but it all goes downhill when you get close enough to smell and taste it. Some 'kind' soul left it at my place after a barbecue and so I could at least try it for free. Wasn't worth the money. It is insipid, aromaless and thin. The only thing it has a lot of is carbonation and an acidic afterburn.
