COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carlton Sterling is a double hopped 2.5% lager and as its name suggests, is a true marque of brewing excellence made from world-class ingredients. The finest of pale malts and roasted barley are used to create malt flavour and colour. Noble Saaz hops and Australian Pride of Ringwood hops provide a subtle yet distinctive hop aroma and flavour. CUBs unique double hopped brewing process, normally reserved for premium beers, maximises flavour to create a light beer of distinction. Its this unique character that brings an extra layer of flavour to this excellent quality low alcohol beer.

failed to take my breath away. for people who find the complexity of flavours in fosters light ice a little too confronting

MGC under a medium size short lasting white head. Stale cornflakes and cold used bathwater aroma. Very thin soda watery body. Mild stale weak bitter mineral water and corny adjuncts flavours. Indescribably lacking in any sort of character or taste. Just awful.

No Aroma, No Taste! Golden colored water with a hint of corn. Nice looking bottle though!

Since when double hopping delivers full flavoured lagers. Try adding some malt and forget about beer adjuncts like sugar and rice. Let me guess, carlton added 2 gms of hop extract instead of 1. Whoohoo - double hopping. Bloody hell this is the worst type of marketing I've ever seen. The beer is water and in fact water tastes better than this. I laugh at all the drinkers who drink this and stare at the ceiling of a bar and think they are in heaven. Yuppies, I hate 'em!

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2003 Bit of a worry when you only have to change one of the default ratings. OK I know this is a light beer but that does not excuse the lack of essential features of a good beer. Sure it looks OK but it all goes downhill when you get close enough to smell and taste it. Some 'kind' soul left it at my place after a barbecue and so I could at least try it for free. Wasn't worth the money. It is insipid, aromaless and thin. The only thing it has a lot of is carbonation and an acidic afterburn.

If John Denver himself were to reincarnate as a beer, there would be only a very few more appropriate choices.

Where's the zero on the overall impression scale when you need it? I am in pain giving this a rating of one out of 20 as I don't think it deserves to rate that highly. I have only had one of these and that is the way it will stay. Tastes like Hartz Mountain soda water. I kid you not.
