Draft. Pours a dark burnt orange with a half finger of white head. Aroma is mostly caramel with some light hops and whisky flavor. Pretty good. Nothing super but very drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at brewpub, pours a burnt orange red with a nice thick head and lacing through out the glass, the aroma is mainly of malt, caramel and a hint of scotch, the flavor has some chocolate in the finish but is of heavy malt and really nothing much else, pretty straight forward brew.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brewpub,
Pours a slightly cloudy copper/auburn with a finger-width worth of foamy white head. Aroma is caramel malt, and lots of it, with a touch of alcohol. Flavor is also intensely caramel-malty with very mild hop bitterness, some nutty dryness to bring a little balance to the sweetness, and a surprising alcohol kick. I wouldn’t be surprised if this year’s batch checks in quite a bit higher than the currently posted 4.9%. If there were such a thing as an Imperial Irish red (and there probably is somewhere since some American breweries will "imperialize" anything), this is what it would taste like. Palate is a little sticky with a lingering caramel aftertaste. This is by far the best Irish red I’ve ever tasted.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from the tap 10/11/08 a very red/copper color with a thick head which leaves great lacing. Aroma has a caramel malt with a fruity pear scent. Flavor is very malty, tastes like there is some Munich malt, with some caramel flavor towards the end. The mouth feel is med with great carbonation. Good Irish red.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Amber in color with no head. I must say that I was really dissapointed with this beer. Overall it was very bland and thin. The nose was the trend of carlyle to be thin and barely present the taste follows just about the same. Nothing interesting to say about this.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Red-orange in color, with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma was full of caramel malts, with a certain nuttyness (sunflower seeds?). Mildly sweet flavor, lightly acidic, with notes of red grapes in the finish. Interesting.

Draught: The color is a slightly coppery amber color. There was a big head on this one. Some lacing also. The aroma was somewhat malty caramel with a whiff of hops. The taste has a somewhat dry finish: there is no real sweetness, but no bitterness also, despite the bit of a hop taste to the beer.
