UPDATED: FEB 27, 2006 tap at brewpub-dec 29,2004. pours a deep brown hue with a little red tint on the edge of the glass. nice tan head. Mostly chocolate aroma-one dimensional. deep chocolate flavors with a hint of carmel. roasty flavors come out a little better as it warmed midway. light body. a simple session porter along the lines of SN. ReRate-I went back here feb 06-porter much improved all around-aroma more up front chocolate, lots of char and a nice appearance. some nice black licorice notes as well. palate is still a little thin, but much better than the previous sample i had a year prior. priclkly palate prevents this one from being great. some smokey notes come out as it warms more.

McKnizzle69 (89) - Machesney Park, Illinois, USA - MAY 8, 2006
On tap at brew pub: Poured deep mahogany brown with small beige head. Big caramel aroma with hints of black licorice. flavors of black licorice char with a lot of caramel sweetness. Palate is a little light with lots of carbonation which creates a dryness.

Clear dark brown body. Acidic black malt aroma. The flavor kicks in with an added bitterness along with the caramel and acidic roast. Dry roast finish. Pretty dry for a porter, this makes it unsatisfying.

1FastSTi (3000) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 19, 2006
Pours to a very dark brown but totally transparent body with a thin tan head. The flavor is a light grassy hop, caramel malt, light coffee, balanced. The palate is medium bodied, slick, roasty. Was listed as 4.3% ABV.

On tap at the brewpub.
Clear, very dark red-brown, medium tan head with little lacing. Aroma of toffee, caramel, and roast grain. Flavor is caramel, toffee, roast grain, moderate hop bitterness. Surprisingly thin palate for this beer. Still, nice brew.
