UPDATED: OCT 4, 2005 On tap at the brewpub. This controversial love-it-or-hate-it beer is definitely not for everyone. Many were understandably put off by the exotic, highly unusual (esp. for the style) slightly peppery spice character that, as Mr. Muzzle points out, was construed by some to taste a bit like soap. I found the spice character to be rather fascinating, though I must admit I didn’t like it at first. Not overly sweet or syurpy like I would have expected. Unfortunately this beer is no longer available but the Berry Brown has a bit of the same spicy character along with the raspberry zing. Hopefully it will be revived now and then in the future. <P>EDIT Oct 4th 2005: Berry Brown no longer available either, with only a small chance it will be offered again in the future. Furthermore, staff member informs me the raspberry wheat will almost certainly never be brewed again.

tap at brewpub-This is most likely the best fruit wheat beer i have ever had-pours a light yellow hue with some cloudyness-the brewer used whole raspberries in this one and it definately did the job! I really like the spices and the raspberry flavors in this one-lots of complexity and didn’t taste like another fruit extract brew. Nice job carlyle!

Sample at the brewpub. Lightly hazy dark amber; simple, light fresh fruity aroma. Odd soapy characteristic immediately noticeable in flavor...fresh fruit is evident, but the initially off flavor ultimately sabotages...only real disappointment from this interesting newish brewpub.
