   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 2/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 8/20
microdyke (360) - Portland, USA - MAR 13, 2003
A clear golden color with very little character. It sort of just sits in the glass maybe hoping to be ignored. When I ventured forward, I wafted its open face void of any head. Its aroma was of wheat, yeast and grass. I went even further to fill my mouth with its body. I found what I had already expected...flat and slightly yeasty, some hops. It's body left me wanting for flavor and a fuller palate. I should have took its hint at the beginning and ignored it.

Thanks jcwattsrugger for the share. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is bread with some slight citrus, hops, and banana. Flavor is similar. Light body and so-so overall.

Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 26, 2010
Courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours a deep gold color with thin white head. The aroma is wheat and vague sweetness to go along with some floral and spicy hops. The taste is smooth with wheat, a touch of roast and faint spicy to citrus to floral hops. All the while I also get a thin layer of graininess off in the background.

Thanks to jcwattsrugger for this one. A: Pours a pale yellow with a puffy head. S: Aromas of light wheat, muted citrus, and pale malts. T: Light wheat, citrus, bread, not impressed with this one. M: Very thin, dare I say watery. D: It’s like water you could drink a ton of it, but who would want too?

riversideAK (4566) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 23, 2010
Nose of wheat bread and a hint of lemon. That is about it. Pours golden thin foam layer. Crisp upfront with wheat on the mid palate and some honey sweetness and citrus crispness that washes that away. Crisp finish. Could be quenching on a hot day. A decent wheat ale.

bitbucket (2082) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Bottle. Pours clear dark gold with a thick white head. A little wheat-based sourness in the aroma, and a touch of honey. Lightly sweet malt and honey taste with a bit of grass in a clean finish. Kinda simple. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

a modest wheat, it pours almost clear, with a tawny boxer-dog colored hue. a dismal head-- if i’d have gone bald this quickly, i’d have cut my throat. not enough foam left after a minute to impress a spittle bug. for the aroma, carmel features a likeness of grape and orange drizzled grass, white beans, and a bit of well-worn tuperwear. i tried to pry out of it some classic banana, gum or clovey notes, but without a 36" crow bar, i guess it can’t be done. nice carbonation for a quencher, but with a bittersweet taste that caused my brow to knit and lip to curl. some dank grains, with more of the grape and citrus. lightly acidic-- and while not enough to corrode a battery terminal-- it seems strange for a hefe unless they supplied a lemon wedge right in the bottle. the last pour did produce some yeast and residue, adding perhaps a saving measure of depth. it’s a strange wheat/pale ale cross over, with not quite enough qualities of either to engender much enthusiasm, an endorphin, or even an appreciative sigh.
