COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Pour is dark brown with a tight tan head. A hint of bourbon but extremely faint, light note of milk chocolate, a touch oxidized, and a good bit of malt berry sweetness. Taste pretty much follows the nose. Faint note of bourbon and some slightly rich malt, oxidation mid palate and a good bit of malty sweetness but not really sugary. Silky smooth body, moderate carbonation. Fairly bright flavors, slightly oxidized, not bad now, probably a bit past it’s prime and could have been a really nice beer before.

Bottle 750 ml Dr Silverworm. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark chocolate woody bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex dark sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish that was long lasting with a small alcohol bite. Standout well balanced barrel brew.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a translucent dark brown with light beige head that steadily that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; dark malt, chocolate, oak, and bourbon. Tastes like it smells, but not as robust. Solid on the palate; a bit thinner than I’d prefer though. Good beer.

750ml bottle, from Dutch’s. Shared with a couple local raters. Very dark brown color, mostly clear, slight red hues on the edges. Thin off-white head, some ropes of lace. Holy moly, the nose on this! Did not expect it to be barrel aged, you get the bourbon barrel up front in the nose pretty quickly. Awesome cookie dough, brown sugar, good vanilla. Milk chocolate. Very nice barrel aroma. Medium-bigger body, smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Some decent chewiness to it. Moderate bitter taste, light sweet, dry finish. Hides alcohol reasonably well. Very nice complex aromatic finish, lots of good balanced barrel notes that play well with the light porter aromas... Awesome chewy vanilla bourbon toasty bitter dark chocolate aftertaste... Just a very mild hint of oxidization, maybe (some light dry papery cardboard in the finish I think), but it’s very mild. Super tasty, impressive stuff. No burn at all.

bottle shared by cparles, thanks chris! pours dark brown with a small light beige head, some retention and lacing. burnt caramel, chocolate - cocoa powder and lactose-like and aspartame sweetness, raisins and other red fruitiness, coffee beans, slightly vegetal and mineral - almost salty and stale, few woodsy notes - vanilla and sweetish bourbony components. moderate carbonation, light body - oily, grassy-spicy-coffee finish. probably past its prime. still somewhat decent.

Bottle (750 ml). Shared by cparles, thanks Chris! Dark brown with a medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malt, light bourbon and some dark fruits. Taste is very similar to the aroma with a little more caramel and less bourbon. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. A bit straigtforward, but not bad. Balance is good. Decent.
