From a 75 cl bottle purchased from Leukens. Pours a clear dark cola with a creamy tan head. Aromas of licorice and caramel. Flavors same. Quite effervescent. Mellow finish.

A special beer with thanks to _angst_ for the trade! 2011 bottle. Pours reddish deep chestnut, small tan head, good lacing on the glass. Aroma is pretty strong bourbon, toffee, raisins, figs. Flavor is light sweet and light bitter - clear evidence of barrel aging, more like a quad than a porter in some ways. Lightish body and a bit thin, which was a bit of a distractor, but still a good beer.

Deep brown with a reddish hue, no foam. Rich caramel malty aroma with clear hints of barrel aging, some tootsie roll chocolate. Body is very thin, some roast bitter, some sweet chocolate, light bourbon.

Bottle at Akkurat. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a low tan head. Aromas of caramel, bourbon, raisins and muscovado sugar. Taste is caramel, raisins, bourbon, muscovado sugar and some roasted notes from the barrel. Mouthfeel is smooth and quite thin with low carbonation.

Bottle shared with friends at Akkurat. Deep but still Clear black red pour with tenacious lacy foam. Aroma of really really vanilla forward bourbon, tons of bourbon and vanilla, nice sweet smelling bourbon, light molasses notes, a hint of licorice. Taste is sweet, nice boozy bourbon, not too sweet however, nice roastiness as well. Palate is relatively light, pretty dry, nice carbonation. Tasty porter, and although the bourbon aging really dominates this one, it is quite enjoyable.

750ml bottle via Winter Secret Santa 2013/14. Pours a nearly opaque black with some bubbly, cream colored head. Nose has licorice, molasses, black pepper, some booze, Kahlua, malt, chocolate, some raisin. Flavor is sweet, raisins, cherries, cola, cream soda, mild vanilla, licorice. Oily finish. Could have aged a bit too far. Could be on the way out.

Bottle pours dark brown/black with thin tan head that recedes rapidly. Aroma dark fruits with a little coffee/cocoa and faint bourbon. As others have said there’s a touch of oxidation at this point, but still a nice full porter taste with roast malts, cocoa, slight coffee, touch of bourbon. Almost seems like a little oatmeal. Full palate. Finish mainly a continuation of the flavor. Pretty solid BA porter.

Pour is dark brown with a tight tan head. A hint of bourbon but extremely faint, light note of milk chocolate, a touch oxidized, and a good bit of malt berry sweetness. Taste pretty much follows the nose. Faint note of bourbon and some slightly rich malt, oxidation mid palate and a good bit of malty sweetness but not really sugary. Silky smooth body, moderate carbonation. Fairly bright flavors, slightly oxidized, not bad now, probably a bit past it’s prime and could have been a really nice beer before.

Bottle 750 ml Dr Silverworm. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark chocolate woody bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy complex dark sweet bourbon flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish that was long lasting with a small alcohol bite. Standout well balanced barrel brew.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a translucent dark brown with light beige head that steadily that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; dark malt, chocolate, oak, and bourbon. Tastes like it smells, but not as robust. Solid on the palate; a bit thinner than I’d prefer though. Good beer.
