COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Corked bottle
Dark mahogany color, almost black; small sized beige head; in the beginning it pours oily and undercarbonated. Mild aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, cardboard, cream. Correct body strength, very good chocolate flavor, with just light residual sweetness, and with nice vanilla touch; correct bitterness. Very Pleasant.

Bottle from gnoff. Black with light tan head. Wonderful rich aroma of raisins, bourbon, creme brulee/bread puddling. Taste of milky chocolate covered raisins, creamy coffee, toffee, vanilla. Sweety boozy finish. Fantastic.

Bottle at Mogwai. Helsingborg, December 2011.
Pours clear brown with a red hue. Weak head. Sweet aromas of bourbon presented as vanilla, fudge, cocos, caramel and butterscotch. Some notes of milk chocolate in the background as well as some fruity notes of red berries. Sweet in the taste with a slightly to weak body, could use some more malt. Alcohol shines through as well as sugar.

750ml bottle thanks to largadeer. Dark brown in color with a small tan head and good lacing. Big bourbon aroma with dark chocolate and some roastiness. The flavor is good but a bit weak. Bourbon, oak, dark chocolate, and weak coffee. A bit thin on the palate, which is not always a bad thing. Medium-low carbonation. Good beer, but I’ve had better from the -bals in this style for sure.

Bottle. Dark colour with a light brown head. A bit of bourbon and caramel in the aroma. Mild chocolate bourbon taste. Will win taste wise by aging some more, but even now a very good porter.

Bourbon nose and falvour. Smooth pleasant porter base, but the barrel character is overwhelming. Out of focus, out of balance.

Bottle. Deep brown, red-hued body, small white head. Nose is coconut, wood, syrup, walnuts, bourbon, chocolate and hints of coffee. Taste is sweet, round bourbon tones (surprise! didn’t know until I tasted it!), coconut, hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Well-balanced and nice, although with a slightly watery finish. A real surprise from the otherwise traditional Carnegie brewery; inviting Garreth Oliver over for a bourbon-barrel project just ain’t bad! :-)

Bottled:
Pours dark -almost black- brown with ruby edges. Thick and lacing head. Vanilla and Bourbon on the nose with a slight whiff of smoke. Mouthfeel was thinner than expected. Flavour is Bourbon, black currants, licorice and alcohol. Pretty good now, but will probably improve with time.
