3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a blackish color with a tan head. Aroma is filled with bourbon, with notes of vanilla, dark fruits, roasted malts, bourbon soaked raisins, coffee, chocolate and some brown sugar. The flavor follows the nose with the roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, lots of bourbon, oak, vanilla, bourbon soaked raisins, brown sugar and dark fruits. The body is medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty tasty brew, but I would have wanted more mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Prefer this over the original. Pours dark brown to black with a fairly small and thin head, leaving a bit of lacing. Aroma is vanilla, coco and a touch of coffee. Taste very similar, sweet with the coco even more present. Has a nice balancing bitterness that remains through the fairly long finish. Body is a tad too light (but this is expected from a porter I suppose), but overall a very pleasant beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
75 cl bottle from Systembolaget. Really dark brown/black liquid with small to medium, thick tan head.Lots of nice lacing. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, caramel, port, chocolate, coffee, booze, dark fruits (plums, prunes) and wood. Sadly also some butter, but that fades away as it warms up. Taste is medium sweet, light to medium bitter with notes of licorice, pumpernickel and bourbon. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and sticky mouthfeel. Some warming alcohol. Nice one. Refined and balanced. Sadly a bit rough when cold but a proper tribute to Carnegie.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2014 (Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 21 Oct 2011) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with oak wood, liquorice and sweet black coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of sweet liquorice, dark bread, vanilla, coffee and gently bitter-sweet finish. Medium to full body, with balanced sweetness. Nice and tasty beer, but I was hoping for a little more. Will hopefully find it in the bottled version. 7/4/7/4/14=3.6. Rerate: (Bottle, 3 Jan 2014) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, black rye bread, caramel, oak wood, coffee, brown sugar, bourbon and a touch of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, dark bread, oak wood, vanilla, dried fruit (raisins, prunes), hints of creamy coffee and a slight glow of bourbon or brown sugar in the finish. Balanced cocoa bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Exceptionally well balanced and a bit softer than when it was released. Seems to age quite well. Lovely beer!
