3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from bottle, dark Brown almost black with low head. Aroma strong with notes of coffee, caramel and a trace of smoke. Taste is bittersweet with notes of coffee and bread. Light bitterness in the finish.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My grateful thanks to my good friend Cantabrian for this birthday gift. My friend takes his Baltic Porters very seriously indeed and for him to offer this to me is a real treat.
It’s obviously black, but when held up to the light there is a rosy mahogany colour in the bottom of the glass. A gibbous crescent of greyish foam sat on top and when I put my nose in the glass I got an array of fresh dark berries: boysenberries, currents, medicinal hawthorn and myrtleberries. I drank in the smell. It was luscious and promising. Those came out in the flavour, but were well balanced with chocolately, licorice malt characters. It was sweet and juicy in a medium body with tangy fruitiness. The finish leaned toward that licorice and medicinal flavour and gave my a but silly grin on my face.
Thanks Eduardo, really.

Bottle labeled just 'porter' but 5.5%. Black with nice but fast disappearing beige head. Liquorice, some dry cocoa, lots of malts and some faint herbs. Some apple and berries. Medium bodied. Ok porter but nothing exceptional for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
En flaska av årgång 2013. Förvånade mild och snäll. All de förväntade smakelementen är på plats. Något nedtonade, lagring?

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours unclear medium dark brown with a small light beige cap showing some retention and lacing. medium roastiness, sweet milk chocolate, fresh coffee beans, faint red fruitiness, although dried fruitiness is present, sweetness - lactose, molasses, hint of cardboard. moderately low carbonation, light body - some texture but feels a tad watery, even this relatively low abv, semi-sweet short peppery-grassy finish. decently crafted but kind of far from the top-50..

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 fl. oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small, light brown head. Sweet aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Sweet flavour of dried fruit, roasted malt, liquorice, dark chocolate, coffee and a hint of smoke with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Full body with a smooth, oily texture and flat carbonation. Very nice porter.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is slight roast and pure toasty malt. Body is medium and if you closed Your eyes you might think you were drinking a Malty pale lager. Very crisp and clean, but with a little roast and black malt. Michael Jackson top 500, sure why not.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very classic, if not archetypical, Baltic porter since 1836, claiming to still have the same taste as back then. Loose, creamy white head, colour as good as black with faint reddish hue. Nose gets coffee powder, bitter chocolate, iron, liquorice, black pepper, soy sauce and raisins. Roasted bitter taste, slick maltiness, lots of liquorice, bit resinous and oily, iron but not in a dull metallic way as with many lagers, finishing in roasted bitterness. Tasteful and hard to ignore classic.
